Everything is going to be all right. Nick Cave releases a follow up album to "Push the Sky Away" and a follow up movie to "20000 Days on Earth".

It is certainly going to be his saddest album yet ... But I'm glad for him if he found a bit of solace, if that is even possible, in making music. Having said that, those soundbites sound very promising!

Given the recent circumstances, this might be the most focused work he has done and it could even top "Push The Sky Away".

Is anyone going to see the movie as well?
I've got my tickets booked. 2000 Days on Earth was ace.

This whole concept actually gives me real Blackstar flashbacks. I wonder if not only the death of his son, but also the the death of music legends like Bowie,Lemmy,Prince or daily themes like the thread of terrorism, Brexit, the refuge crisis, are going to be subject of this record.

I read somwhere ,that he already recorded big parts of the album prior spring/summer 2015, short before the tragic event. I guess he excluded a big part of songs ,that were originally going to be on the record and replaced them.
This comes as a total surprise to me. It would have been acceptable if he ended his career at this point.

There She Goes, My Beautiful World
The wintergreen, the juniper The cornflower and the chicory All the words you said to me Still vibrating in the air The elm, the ash and the linden tree The dark and deep, enchanted sea The trembling moon and the stars unfurled There she goes, my beautiful world...
John Wilmot penned his poetry riddled with the pox Nabukov wrote on index cards, at a lectern, in his socks St John of the Cross did his best stuff imprisoned in a box And Johnny Thunders was half alive when he wrote 'Chinese Rocks'
Well, me, I'm lying here, with nothing in my ears Me, I'm lying here, with nothing in my ears Me, I'm lying here, for what seems like years I'm just lying on my bed with nothing in my head
Send that stuff on down to me...
Karl Marx squeezed his carbuncles while writing Das Kapital And Gaugin, he buggered off, man, and went all tropical While Philip Larkin stuck it out in a library in Hull And Dylan Thomas died drunk in St Vincent's Hospital
I will kneel at your feet I will lie at your door I will rock you to sleep I will roll on the floor And I'll ask for nothing Nothing in this life I'll ask for nothing Give me everlasting life
I just want to move the world...
So if you got a trumpet, get on your feet, brother, and blow it If you've got a field that don't yield, well, get up and hoe it I look at you and you look at me and deep in our hearts know it That you weren't much of a muse, but then I weren't much of a poet
I will be your slave I will peel your grapes Up on your pedestal With your ivory and apes With your book of ideas With your alchemy O come on Send that stuff on down to me...
There she goes, my beautiful world There she goes again uǝɥʇɐǝɥ and joladella , your favourite Cave lyrics?

Nick Cave – Higgs Boson Blues Can't remember anything at all Flame trees line the streets Can't remember anything at all But I'm driving my car down to Geneva I've been sitting in my basement patio Aye, it was hot Up above, girls walk past, the roses all in bloom Have you ever heard about the Higgs Boson blues I'm goin' down to Geneva baby, gonna teach it to you Who cares, who cares what the future brings? Black road long and I drove and drove I came upon a crossroad The night was hot and black I see Robert Johnson, With a ten dollar guitar strapped to his back, Lookin' for a tune Well here comes Lucifer, With his canon law, And a hundred black babies runnin' from his genocidal jaw He got the real killer groove Robert Johnson and the devil man Don't know who's gonna rip off who Driving my car, flame trees on fire Sitting and singin' the Higgs Boson blues, I'm tired, I'm lookin' for a spot to drop All the clocks have stopped in Memphis now In the Lorraine Motel, it's hot, it's hot That's why they call it the Hot Spot I take a room with a view Hear a man preaching in a language that's completely new, yea Making the hot cocks in the flophouse bleed While the cleaning ladies sob into their mops And a bellhop hops and bops A shot rings out to a spiritual groove Everybody bleeding to that Higgs Boson Blues If I die tonight, bury me In my favorite yellow patent leather shoes With a mummified cat and a cone-like hat That the caliphate forced on the Jews Can you feel my heartbeat? Can you feel my heartbeat? Hannah Montana does the African Savannah As the simulated rainy season begins She curses the queue at the Zulus And moves on to Amazonia And cries with the dolphins Mama ate the pygmy The pygmy ate the monkey The monkey has a gift that he is sending back to you Look here comes the missionary With his smallpox and flu He's saving them savages With his Higgs Boson Blues I'm driving my car down to Geneva I'm driving my car down to Geneva Oh let the damn day break The rainy days always make me sad Miley Cyrus floats in a swimming pool in Toluca Lake And you're the best girl I've ever had Can't remember anything at all theyknowwhatimean

Tough question! That came to mind first, The Weeping Song: Go son, go down to the water And see the women weeping there Then go up into the mountains The men, they are weeping too Father, why are all the women weeping? They are weeping for their men Then why are all the men there weeping? They are weeping back at them This is a weeping song A song in which to weep While all the men and women sleep This is a weeping song But I won't be weeping long Father, why are all the children weeping? They are merely crying son O, are they merely crying, father? Yes, true weeping is yet to come This is a weeping song A song in which to weep While all the men and women sleep This is a weeping song But I won't be weeping long O father tell me, are you weeping? Your face seems wet to touch O then I'm so sorry, father I never thought I hurt you so much This is a weeping song A song in which to weep While we rock ourselves to sleep This is a weeping song But I won't be weeping long But I won't be weeping long But I won't be weeping long But I won't be weeping long --- Others that come to mind: The good son Hallelujah Into my arms Special mention: Babe, I'm on fire

I'm listening to this project for the first time. Push away the sky is great. The new single Jesus Alone is good but it's a bit plain as well

Watched it! The documentary was very creative with it's unique improvisational style. It was sad and funny if nothing else. Even the black and white 3D moments were quite cool. Now bring on the record, it's got to be one of his best! Has anyone else watched it?

Rings Of Saturn sounds like something Blood Orange would have released, or an overqualified Richard Ashcroft AUNOS song.
It's official, Nick Cave has finally ventured into Hip Hop.

I've heard bits and pieces of this album and it sounds really intriguing, and I'm not clued up on Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds either. I do remember reading about his sons death last year (and some appalling pieces in the paper blaming Nick Cave - see The Telegraph) which sadly gives it a heartbreaking context. The subject matter is unbearably bleak that it might be easier to listen to the album first then watch the documentary - this sounds strange, but hearing the sound of emotions is an easier way to contemplate, but actually seeing emotions on the face and the inner turmoil of the man is much more difficult to confront in my opinion and much more heartbreaking. I agree with joladella though that I hope this gives a degree of solace.
