OH Noel...!!! When i read a NoelG interview, you hardly see something good for Oasis (except DM and MG). Only negative comments about their songs and albums, about almost anything post MG. And the worse is that he s talking about money, money, money, big , big, big, money, money, money...Thats a letdown for me, cause Oasis was something more. It was about music, about passion, about soul, about keeping alive the spirit of Rock n Roll. Not just for the money. It makes Oasis look like just a product from a charismatic songwriter, something you can find on every Robbie Williams album, plus any pop-rock product. Is that Oasis for you? Money and cynicism?
Also, when the leader of a band (Noel) hate so many things about his band, albums, songs, what does this say to you about the quality of the band? When Noel say that Liam is a bad singer, what does this say to you about the quality of the band, when with that ''bad'' singer Oasis released (post2000) albums and played to millions of people (making millions for the poket of Noel)? And is Rock n Roll only about a perfect young voice? Tell that to Argentina 2009 fans...
and R we turning to an Adele forum? Is Noel starting to sell out? Is that his point of view when he s talkin about Rock n Roll, about indie/alternative music?
Liam' point of view about Oasis is a different story. Im still trying to see Oasis from his point of view, from his neverstoping love about Oasis, but its getting harder n harder every day...cause Noelg's cynicism seems to destroy everything.
On the other hand, that's something that you ll never think about Radiohead. After all these years they are still musicians, with love about music and not only for the money. They are making money from their art and like everyone else they are trying about it, but its not only for the money. Or when you read a Suede interview, you never get the impression that its only about the money. I read their latest interviews and they make you feel that they are still young boys with the ambition to move their art forward, to create art, to offer something new or good to their fans.
That difference say a lot about both bands (Oasis-Radiohead). Its a red line for me.Cause music used to be not only about a good song. Music is not just a supermarket product. Music is art, music is passion, music is love, philosophy, way of living. Cynicism is reallity but i really dont want to live in a world like this and hear music from artists that seem to lost their soul...

Cynicism is reallity but i really dont want to live in a world like this and hear music from artists that seem to lost their soul... If it was about the money and being big and successful Noel would still be in Oasis,'cause he's clearly not going to reach those highs as a solo artist, but he isn't...so what does that tell you? The guy's a songwriter,he keeps going 'cause that's what he does and probably what he's only good at...then of course he cares about the money,we all do ffs He had fuck all and now's a multi-millionaire,I wouldn't blame him On Liam's voice...he said he's not good ANYMORE,and it took him 7 years after the split to say that,so that means he thought he was good when he was in and band with him And honestly to me it's always seemed like they both had (and still have if not for what they are now for what they used to be) an enormous amount of respect for each other musically speaking, that's why the band was so great and worked so well,Liam's voice was the perfect vehicle for Noel's songwriting and vice-versa,and they believed in that as much as the fans did What I think Noel is trying to say is that he loved being in Oasis,as he's always said that and still does, and it was a big big part of his live, but now he's moved on and wants to do things on his own...and judging from how his records and songs have being recieved and how happy he seems right now I guess that's how it's supposed to be

Since Noel has become a solo artists l, like said above he has been very critical of Oasis post WTSMG.
It is pretty obvious his solo career is supposed to be his way of showing us all the shit times we got after 1995 were not down to him but because of all the rest of the members.
He wants us to look back on his work and say Liam held him back. Its sad and totally untrue, but he wants us to look at it like that.

I think his solo project is more about him having full control than some larger plan at work. I think he was just tired of sharing the benefits and decided that him getting a full share of the take home rather than a partial share would be enough to necessitate him going solo. Besides, in the end, if he falls flat on his face on HB1 then everything you've said would be disproved. Hindsight and his success could lead one to your conclusion, but I don't think anything else does. Unless we're doing a massive connect the dots of his quotes over the past seven years.

I honestly don't think Liam is a "bad" singer.
More limited? Yes. Bad? No.
If I was a new fan I wouldn't think much of him. If I went into it not knowing anything of what Liam's voice used to be, I would think he would be a comparable frontman. Not special, but could get the job done.
I thought he was basically that during the latter stages of Oasis and throughout Beady Eye, except for the odd performance.

I wonder if we'll ever have another thread about Liam's voice... Don't get me wrong, I'm smiling in a bemused way as I type this but after perusing this thread and another (now locked) thread I'm curious, what in the world does one have to do on this site to get banned from it? How long has this stuff been going on? 3 posters in particular seem to have a most tender menage au tois thing going. It's a real testament to the powers of love they're engaged in. Very touching stuff. It's a serious laugh riot but still.........? You obviously don't have to answer my questions and if you don't I'll understand. I won't bring this up again. You can delete this if you want. I'll take no offense.

To be honest, Noel's comments don't sound like something he would say. My immediate thought was that it's been heavily misquoted by a journalist - do we have a video of Noel saying it?

Yeah, it really doesn't sound like something Noel would say - at least that bluntly. He's never spoke about the decline of Liam's vocals before has he? I don't think he'd just suddenly come out and say "He's not a good singer anymore." He might say something like "He's not the singer he used to be" or "He wouldn't be able to sing my songs anymore" but just saying he's no good seems like an extremely sharp reversal from not mentioning it to just insulting him.

I actually dont mind about what he said about Liam but come on. Sure he is able to say stuff like that, he said a lot worse stuff about other people (not just in the 90s). Thats what he does, he loves to slag other people off and pretend to be the brilliant rockstar who knows everything. Hes no less vagina than his brother, he just knows how to do a better job press-wise when its about that.
