As she swallowed space and time? ... When the deed was done, In the morning she was gone? Noel giving us too much detail as usual...

This section of the forum is just as boring as Noël's songs.

We gathered pearls and swine <<<<< this shit dont make sense to me
She shot me to the sun Like a bullet from a gun <<<<<<< this is just a rewrite of the 1st verse of IIHAG

I just happened to be listening to "The Girl with X-Ray Eyes" and thought I would inform of my insightful observations. When I said Noël's songs I was referring to his solo career. Shouldn't be too harsh but they just don't excite me.

Noel did say it was about a one night stand. Didn't he also say the girls with x-ray eyes are the ones who see through your BS and you end up marrying them? I'm pretty sure I read/heard that.

still can't get into this track. not the worst noely g. composition ever, but.... meh. I feel the same. Worst track on Chasing Yesterday and NGHFB combined. I don't know, it sounds a bit dull... I really like the David Holmes Rework though.

I'm pretty sure I read/heard that. that is exactly what he said... tho he probably did say was a one night stand in some contradictory interview somewhere

Found it!
So maybe it's a case of the title not having much to do with the lyrics (like "Mighty I"?). It's just a bit confusing when that apparently is the first thing that comes to his mind when he thinks of that song, as he has written the lyrics.

Mmm,
The first part of the song is about him losing the faith in himself, the middle about her putting some sense back into him, and then the end is about letting the bad stuff go.
I wouldn't say Mighty I has nothing to do with the song, as he's the guy the lyrics are referring to.

But that's very interesting, because I get a totally different message from that song.

Not a fan of this one. Sounds like a song aimed for girls which is not a bad thing I guess.

The way I interpret Mighty I is that he's chasing after the girl in riverman/x-ray eyes/lock all the doors, but it goes nowhere, even when he tries to impress her with his music, and he's saying that he'll keep trying to find her until he does. The song goes nowhere for that reason. And yeah, just thinking about it now, TGWXRE is sorta Broken Arrow part 2. All how I see it anyway.

I absolutely love it! one of my faves! the chord progression is great, the solo is fun and the lyrics "and she swalloed space and time" are really cool. Really love to play it on the guitar and sing to it.

This is the only song I skip on CY, not a grow-er, not even a used-to-er. Nice solo though.

Nice song, but that's about all you can say about it, besides the fact that it has a great solo. Might've made a good single.
