How can you not like Kanye West's music? I can't speak for his earlier material, but the songs I've heard from him are only ever focused on him and his extreme materialist life or what seem like relatively trivial issues like reflections on fame. No surprise given his a-list megalomaniac personality. It's a struggle to take to music that is so debased and rootless, unlike groups like NWA or Kendrick Lamar who can provide social commentary on their communities. I can't speak for his albums though but I find him too over produced musically.

One word: Tune.
Love the beautiful intro and how melodic & funky the song is. It uses a common pop chord progression but doesn't sound like it since it has such a good melody. I think Coldplay nicked this one for Hymn for the Weekend, as well.

Listening to Bloodbath's Eaten/Rammstein's Mein Teil got me thinking, has there been other songs about murder cases like the Cannibal cafe thing? Not necessarily cannibalism.

Pearl Jam deserves more love.
Ten is better than Nevermind.

Where are the anthems for our youth? What happened to music that meant something? The Who at the Kingdome, or Kiss at the Coliseum... Where is the "Misty Mountain Hop," where is the "Smoke on the Water"... Where is the "Iron Man" of today?
Most of these bands are like well designed bottles of bleach. It's beer and lifestyle music! I mean it's like the next world war will be sponsored by I don't know what!!!
Thanks.

World71R , is that an AHFOD-era Coldplay logo I spy in your signature??? Shame! Shame!! It is I'm not proud of that era's at all (minus the live shows, Up&Up, Birds, AOAL's riff, and AHFOD) but I wanted to make the colors pop a little more so I put that in there. I still think that AHFOD is one of the worst albums I've ever heard and that almost half the album is unbearable, don't worry.

Can anybody explain to me why the fuck is Beyoncè at the top spot (or in the top three) in almost every "best of 2016" list? Am I missing something? What a fucking joke.
I fear we're living in a world where if you publicly say that you dislike Queen B then you must be both a misogynist and a racist.
(Just my 2p obviously)

I think nowadays, you can't criticize the r'n'b mainstream without being judged as an "elitist". Bollocks to that. I don't see anything that would make listening to Beyoncé a pleasurable experience. I mean, I don't see the point of listening to a music who reminds you of a day in an apple store surrounded by a lot of teenage girls taking selfies. Again an album with at least 56 songwriters on it, aswell.

However I don't buy into the idea that Beyonce is some kind of idol and I admit that the record is slightly overrated.

More than 30 years later, she's still playing this song live. God-like Patti Smith.
