Not bad but his latest albums have been quite disapointing. Black Sands is just perfect. North Borders isn't great imo, although Cirrus and Emkay are decent if a bit sleepy, Black Sands is quality (Kiara, We Could Forever, The Keeper... ), but Days to Come is probably my fave, feels more organic (Between The Lines, Ketto, Recurring ) Days to Come is really good! Between the lines is just one of those songs you can listen to on loop for hours. Do you know any other "bands" like Bonobo? I'm having a hard time trying to find something similar.

I'm sorry Radiohead fans...I just can't get into the new album. I fully appreciate what they do and that they are talented but the songs just sound so depressing. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for depressing music - I love the Cure. But this on a whole other level of mopey. Sounds like Thom York was being slowly buried alive whilst they recorded his vocal. The second half of SOTSOG is considerably more upbeat and positive. Burn the Witch was okay but I kind of hoped it would be more aggressive. Daydreaming was pretty decent, and Desert Island Disk had some nice guitar and True Love Waits had some charm to it. The rest was okay but very samey to me and I couldn't just focus on it because it was so downbeat. I'd heard from many of you how much you liked this album. Can you tell me a bit more about what you loved? Why it stood out so differently to you? The Escapist Lennon2217 ?

Try out some of the stuff on the Ninja Tune label (Ninja Tune XX Vol. 2 is a great compilation of some of the artists on the label which includes Bonobo). Admittedly it's the combined output of an entire label, so a lot of it doesn't sound very similar to Bonobo, but if you like Bonobo then there's a good chance there's some stuff you might like on that compilation. ___ (Spoiler tags around the videos are just to cut page size)
Yppah's kinda similar, especially on his first couple of albums, although more rock & breakbeat based & more moody
Four Tet's earlier stuff from the Pause, Rounds and Everything Ecstatic albums is more down the Dial 'M' for Monkey/Days to Come sort of path, again a bit more moody, although there are the occasional more happy tracks scattered around.
Caribou's later more house-based stuff has a similar feel in parts to the better tracks on The North Borders
Also, bit of a long shot, but I think some of Tricky's work (especially the album False Idols) gives a similar sort of vibe to tracks from Days to Come and Black Sands, might just be me though.
Edit : Forgot Quantic... Anything along the lines of early DJ Shadow, RJD2, etc. probably goes well with Bonobo
Edit 2 : On the subject of Quantic & Bonobo...
____ Btw, sorry in advance if I've recommended artists you already know of

Can you tell me a bit more about what you loved? Why it stood out so differently to you? The Escapist Lennon2217 ? Things I love about A Moon Shaped Pool...... - I love the one two punch of Burn The Witch into Daydreaming. Talk about extremes of brilliance. - I love that the album was recorded to tape and not digitally like on The King of Limbs. - I love how Jonny was able to fully flex his orchestral muscles all over this album. - I love that the album actually has a guitar solo on it (Identikit). First one since 1997? ? - I love the dark guitar boogie towards the end of "Decks Dark". - I love how the track listing is in alphabetical order and it actually fucking works/flows together in a perfect manner. - I love how the album is about love and relationships (Daydreaming, Glass Eyes, Identikit, Present Tense, True Love Waits. - I love how politically charged the album is (Burn The Witch, Ful Stop, The Numbers, Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief. - I love Thom's voice on the album. Feels so alive with room to breathe. - I love the production job by Nigel. Probably his best work to date. Very organic. Very natural. - I love how well the album translates to a live concert setting. - I love how they pulled off "True Love Waits" despite the immense hype and fame the song already had over the last 20 years. - I love how vulnerable the band sounds. - I love how human Radiohead sounds.

____ Btw, sorry in advance if I've recommended artists you already know of Wow man, thanks SO MUCH! I was expecting a few names drop, but those links are awesome. The only one I knew before was Caribou, but I will check the full albums from the rest, specially Four Tet. Thanks! You probably already know this one and it doesn't sound really similar to Bonobo, but maybe you'll enjoy Tycho

Not sure if I like his voice or not, but a solid cover nevertheless... It reminds me when girls do acoustic covers on YouTube that sound good, but they have that annoying super high pitched falsetto after every note vocal that I can't stand. I also don't like when they take a song with alot of range and bring it down to a boring monotone level.

What does everyone think is the greatest final album by a recording artist? Besides Blackstar, we already know theyknowwhatimean was gonna say that. Dunno if you still read these pages, but here, give this a try:

A bit ridiculous how Nick's guitar is softened in the mix on this because it is transcendent.
Biggest missed opportunity on one of the greatest songs of the 90s. Nick's melodic interpretation of History for the album could've elevated the song from not only being a heartwrenching love ballad but a ethereal and mysterious exploration of heartache and breached it beyond the emotional impact the string section could only do. We only got a taste of it on the radio edit. This is probably my favorite live version of the song.

Watching this to "try to understand" Radiohead is like watching Wonderwall to try to understand Oasis – and in a much complex level, I'd say. Radiohead is an immensely diverse and creative force. Best band of the 00s hands down. Check their other stuff, like Kid A and In Rainbows. They're nothing like Creep.

New Satryicon next year, still an arguement on 'selling out' after the first 3. Great drummer though.

I've just discovered this band called Young in the City. They have released only eight or nine songs so far and all of them are brilliant!
Dropping the KEXP live takes of my two favorite ones here. Check 'em out if you like addictive guitar riffs... I can't get the chorus of Wayhome out of my mind!

Viva la Vida or Bittersweet Symphony? hmmm for longevity Id say bittersweet symphony, viva la vida is alright but I dont find it that unique, its abit of a generic coldplay track imo, theres a few other coldplay tracks Id probably get it confused with.
