Fuckin' great song. @driver7 you like The Strokes ? Probably my top-10 favourite bands Their 1st album is really great, easily one of the greatest from 2000s. After that they kept releasing good songs but sadly the albums weren't that great in overall. They released a new EP earlier this year. This one's quite good but I also like the others.

"Is This It" is up there with Funeral, Neon Bible, Kid A, Amnesiac, Bluffer's Guide to the Flight Deck, Oracular Spectacular and Takk, for the best album of the 2000's. Way better than anything Doherty or Shitty Monkeys have ever done.

I didn't know Iva Davies of Icehouse had enormous stage fright issues: On 25 January 1988, Icehouse performed "Electric Blue" at the Royal Command, New South Wales Bicentennial Concert in front of the Prince and Princess of Wales at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Davies performance was notable for his stage-fright and, due to his being greatly affected by nerves, singing off-key and out of tune

Hadn't heard this song for a while until today when I played it before going out for the day. I was instantly reminded of how much I love it though:
Even if you don't like the Chilis, it's worth checking out. They had a very Beatlesque and melodic approach to this song that is joyful but somewhat melancholic and it turned out beautifully.

Dear diary, today I bought my THIRD metal album for this year. How long it's been since I've been this interested in discovering new metal music? Ten years, maybe? Anyway, it's good to be back.

That lyrically reminds me of Katatonia's Ghost of the Sun where the narrator eventually kills himself for everyone lies to him.

Preferred the first single Kerala... This one's too laid back for my liking.

Why did Bowie hardly record any proper B-Sides? I feel like there's a gap in his discography. You listen to an awesome song like Fashion or John, I'm only Dancing and expect a kickass, rare track on side B, but nope it's just an album track...

The Verve has become one of my favourite bands right now. A Storm In Heaven gets better with each listening, I fucking love that sound. Can you suggest me other psychedelic rock bands/songs with similar heavy guitar sound like The Verve has? Well, it doesn't have to be similar sound but I'm looking for songs where the main psychedelic vibe comes from the guitar sound. Pink Floyd and Tame Impala both fall into that category and I've listened to them quite a lot too. I guess many shoegaze bands have the kind of sound I'm looking for so I have to check them when I have time. glider I know you're a big fan of Verve and shoegazing. Do you have any suggestions?

Verve's sound is definitely unique and McCabe pioneered quadraverb tinkering, so it's difficult to recommend band's who followed in his footsteps. Closest record to match the ambient guitar sounds on ASIH is probably Slowdive's Souvlaki. The tracks 'Souvlaki Space Station' and 'Sing' resemble the sounds well. Otherwise, the sound and style of A Storm In Heaven is unmatched.

North Borders isn't great imo, although Cirrus and Emkay are decent if a bit sleepy, Black Sands is quality (Kiara, We Could Forever, The Keeper... ), but Days to Come is probably my fave, feels more organic (Between The Lines, Ketto, Recurring ) Dial 'M' For Monkey is a bit too backgroundy for my liking, best tracks on that one like Flutter and Pick Up are the ones that are more awake. Animal Magic, I'm thinking of getting soon so I've only previewed it, but again, sounds a bit too laid-back too often for my liking.

Not sure if I like his voice or not, but a solid cover nevertheless...

I'm listening to Bergtatt by Ulver. I really like the folk influenced parts but I can't take them seriously when their singer's screaming. It sounds so stupid. I guess it's just not the right music for me

I've never listened to Funeral as a Christmass-y album before, but it works really well! I've always thought of it as extremely autumnal, but a listen in the festive spirit reveals tunes like Neighbourhood #1 and Une Anne Sans Lumiere to be bona-fide yuletide anthems!
And, if the snow buries my neighbourhood...

I get some strange nostalgia when I listen to bands like Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, Jamie T, Maccabees, etc. Those were the first British indie bands I started listening to. The whole indie rock genre was really new to me but when I started watching The Inbetweeners I started discovering those bands and all of them sounded really good and different to other music I was listening.
I mean songs like this, they aren't that good but they're really uplifting and fun to listen.
