Haven't heard Hardwired as yet, if there are table references I will just assume LULU was too much of an influence. I AM THE TABLE! I'm still longing for a Metallica song where the lyrics are I am the Table.

The intro to this song, and really the whole song, is unreal. It drops in right away and doesn't let up at all, until the end, but serves its time well.

This song always gives me warmness. A classic by the gorgeous multi composer Ed Harcourt.
My oh my I had a few, my oh my this one's for you I need you to believe that the dark time will fade

Went just the other day to see Bryan Adams live in concert. Now I know its not considered cool to like him, but you know what? That guy did more than his share for me. He put me on the path to rocknroll before Oasis came into my life as a kid. He's put out some terrific records in the 80s (see Reckless and Into the Fire), and despite hit and miss records in the 90s and since, he's still held my interest over the years. He's put out a new one late last year, which he was out promoting.
He put on an amazing show. Played nearly 3 hours, did 30 songs from across his career, swapping in a few unexpected songs every night (according to setlist FM), full band and solo. He's nearly 60 and his voice holds up remarkably well. His performance wasn't predicable either, in the sense that what you expected he'd do last or near the end, he did not.
Many people of course come only to hear the 80s classics, and walked about whenever a new song was played. But you know, as much as those 80s classics sounded great, it was his newer material that to me stood out best. Like this:
I think Bryan Adams is in the legacy stage of his career. Lots of fans in Canada at least who've grown up with him. He's put out lots of records, been in the limelight and infamy, and now people are recognizing more perhaps his status as an icon.

Yes, I love this masterpiece - "looking for a sound that's gonna drown out this world", love that particular line. It's a track that was tentatively worked on with Underworld in the mid 90s, prompted by Bono's friendship with Karl Hyde and the band's obsession with all things electronic at this stage. It was never released, and was later reworked with Flood for the album. The Underworld influences are really obvious.

Masterpiece! Not the video, but the song itself...
Additionally, there is no better vocalist that him. It's angelic.

Been listening to the Beatles for Sale album a lot lately. In fact, I've got it on now. It's really a much better album than it gets credit for. Yes, its definitely not one of their best albums. Its squeezed in between two of their best though (Hard Days Night and Help) and with the ridiculously busy schedule they had to keep to, I can't blame them for putting half covers on it. The covers are fine but the original material is most of interest here:
No Reply I'm a Loser Baby's in Black I'll Follow the Sun Eight Days a Week I Don't Want to Spoil the Party Every Little Thing What You're Doing I Feel Fine She's a Woman
Not a bad set of songs at all, they show a new side of songwriting in Lennon especially that hints towards Rubber Soul and its achievements. I'm particularly fond of Spoil the Party these days. It's probably the Beatles original that gets talked about the least.

It feels very free to me. No fuss, no overproduction, no real heavy handed thought gone into it. Great from start to finish.

Lyrics are a bit throwaway but dear god, Johnny's guitar work on here is simply mesmerizing. Definitely among his most inspired moments in The Smiths.

I wouldn't call the lyrics throwaway though. I especially love the last line "Send me the pillow, the one that you dream on, and i send you mine". It reminds me a bit of (or maybe the other way around) the parts at the end of Slide Away you can barely hear or understand. Or at least only if you listen consciously Both two of my favourite songs ever.

Don't get the scream at the end, but this is probably (I'm being blasphemous I know) better than Bowie's version to my ears:

Weller's bass player Andy Lewis produced the new Fay Hallam (never heard of her before to be honest) album called "House Of Now" and it's out now. Here's a song from the album.
I like this song.
If you like Weller's work and 60's vibe, you might gonna like her as well.

'NME is a pile of wank' shock horror.
I'm just surprised they didn't put the awful Courteeners first spot.

"NME's Albums of The Year 2016". Out of the list, there's only one album I bought this year (Blackstar at number 45 of 50!) and other great ones I bought this year aren't even on the list.
Shame on you NME and clean your ear. You don't know what great music is.

Do we have any news at all on HAIM's 2nd album? I've been craving for new leads.

Imagine if there were 49 albums released this year better than 22, A Million. That would be fucking unreal.
