Sunday by Iggy Pop is the best song the Strokes have never written. Speaking of Iggy Pop, I've been listening non-stop to his new single Gardenia. Lennon2217 shared this somewhere else and I've not been able to get it out of my head since. Very sure I'll be picking this album up on MArch 18th. Watching the live video of it, Iggy's so tiny! Never would have imagined that, especially for such a larger than life guy. Check this song out, you may appreciate it.

The new record is a masterpiece. It now works like his response to Bowie's later work, in a way that it's dealing with similar themes but only with Iggy's raw power/energy ,which he has still plenty of. Remarkable is his rant at the opener Paraguay.

Indeed they supported Weller once or twice. The first time when I saw them was their acoustic gig in 2011 and saw them again in 2014 (twice). They're playing in April overhere again, but don't know if I can make it as I'm seeing The Coral in same week. Acoustic show must been very cool!!. be a shame if you cant get to see both :/ .. They're playing here too next month and doing Rock city which one of my fav venues so hopefully ill get to go Didn't you see them at their acoustic tour in December? I've always loved their gigs. The Rifles are the band you gotta see live. They're playing in the same venue as The Coral 2 days earlier and April is a busy month with work, so unfortunatelly I'll have to pass them this time.

In Dec i was really busy at work and even the Noel RAH gig / radio X gigs were looking unlikely for a while so didnt even dream of anything else

My favourite U2 album is The Unforgettable Fire. Terrific sound on there, great songs and smaller pieces, great atmosphere. Joshua Tree may have the big singles but this one's the winner for me.

R.I.P. All bandmembers of Viola Beach.
The entire band died in a car accident. They were an upcoming band who were touring with Blossoms.

Will bands STOP crashing or get a better driver? RIP Viola Beach

He actually can under certain circumstances. I,'m not a bootleg fanatic but sometimes on live versions he carries a tune perfectly and other times it really comes apart rendering the music unlistenable. There may be a parallel with LGs latter Oasis struggles in the final days and the sounds of Tue band being just too loud for the singers comfort...? I dunno I felt the need to stick up for them both. LG especially seems like he could with a hug lately.

Best live version of The Drugs Don't Work, imo.

It still blows my mind that Imagine, basically Marx and Engels set to music, can be so widely accepted, praised, and loved by America, a country where well over half of the people are devout Christians.

This has got to be one of the most dreadful and fucking awful songs ever recorded by anyone, let alone Paul McCartney. Thank fuck that this never progressed further than a demo, and remained in the vault for over 40 years.

I kind of like the Eagles of Deathmetal. But Jesse Hughes, what an brainwashed individual!

I kind of like the Eagles of Deathmetal. But Jesse Hughes, what an brainwashed individual! With that whole weapon thing? Yeah, I didn't even read anything about it or watched the video, but anyone thinking weapons should be available for EVERYONE, who thinks the world would be better if EVERYONE would have a gun, is not worth my time.

Been listening to the La's a lot this week, thanks in no small part to another member here. I've always liked the album and have loved There She Goes for nearly 20 years. Now its pretty much accepted what the song is really about: heroin. Unless I'm wrong?
That doesn't change the fact that its an incredibly perfect song (unless you're Lee Mavers) and it can be about anything that matters to you. But do you ever listen to the song and although you enjoy it, can't help but think for a moment of Mavers alone in a basement room with a needle and a spoon? A dark, seedy image, for sure.
Then you connect back with the song just in time for the end of the middle section ending in C ("no one else can heal my pain"), then he changes to an Am with "and I just can't contain..." etc Best part of the song IMO
Watch the video and see for yourself. Or maybe its just me?

Miles Kane covered the intro of Rolling People live. You've still got a lot of homework to do, Miles.
