Blossoms' album came out Friday and it's pretty good. Texia is a proper tune.

Just went midnight here and it's August 10 so: Happy Birthday to Hansi Kursch. 50 not out. One of the best singers for me.

New single from Jamie T tonight. I don't like Tinfoil Boy but I'm looking forward to this. This new one is better but still not my cup of tea. I think I keep listening to first two albums.

I'm loving this. Dreamy pop with tons of reverb.

Worst decision of the week: starting to follow the "discussions" on morrissey-solo. There a a couple of really miserable people on there who seemingly hate everything about moz. That's okay, but why go on a FAN forum then? Seriously, live4ever is heaven compared to that.

Only thing I will never agree with Morrissey on is PETA, other than that love the music and always up for discussion

NME- Why Green Day are the greatest living punk bandCan't say I agree with the assessment myself, especially given the author's arguments away from great songs (arguable in it's self) is that she thinks they still look and act like teenage boys- I have to say to me they look what they are, blokes in their forties still living out a lifestyle they dreamed of doing as teenagers so fair play to them for that, but I don't think they actually look like teenagers. Thought I would hoy it up for opinions, Lennon2217 I believe you have voiced some thoughts on Billie Joe & Co. in the past?

American Idiot was a great Ɣlbum top to bottom, but everything else feels like it has been either trying to do it again(21st CB) or just trying to do whatever they like(the trilogy) with mixed results. I had better expectations for the new single, hope the albums' better.

The Smiths split up IIRC in a fish n' chip shop (very British ) after Johnny Marr had had a break due to feeling exhausted in June 1987 but made it permanent in July 1987 after reading a "The Smiths to Split" article in the NME which he erroneously thought Morrissey had planted (Johnny Rogan- Morrissey and Marr: The Severed Alliance pp281-282, London Omnibus 1992) Johnny Marr contacted NME on 8th August 1987 to correct inaccuracies amongst other subjects, whilst at the time it was stated in an official release written on behalf of the band but without Marr's knowledge that the band were considering replacement guitarists. NME August 8th 1987Andy Rourke (Bass Guitarist) and Mike Joyce (Drummer) discussed the break up with the BBC on the eve of a DVD release that the pair participated in titled "Inside The Smiths" in 2007- BBC London- The Smiths Interview

Johnny said later that the court case with Rourke and Joyce was a really painful event.

So, I've just come back from my first Morrissey gig in Berlin. It was an otherworldly experience. One question to you English folks: What exactly is a crooner? Especially when on one of Morrissey's merchandise it says: Morrissey is a crooner Is that irony? Because I thought a crooner is a rather badly connotated word. Or how would you define it? Thanks!

A crooner is someone who sings softly in a (often overly) sentimental manner. Kinda like Frank Sinatra! Classic Morrissey irony!

Thoughts on The Getaway by RHCP after two months:
The first seven tracks are an onslaught of some seriously good stuff. At first, We Turn Red was a bit poor but it's a BIG grower.
From there:
Feasting on the Flowers and Detroit are about the only two weak track and even those two have killer lead guitar lines and good lyrics.
This Ticonderoga gets some hate but it's dynamic and unique.
Encore is seriously beautiful. It has to be one of the best songs that they've done with Josh and almost stacks up there with some of their best songs.
The Hunter is somber but lovely. The distant trumpet in the overall atmosphere created is really haunting.
Dreams of a Samurai is a change of pace for the Chilis. It's a beautiful rebirth to close out the album and has an amazing arrangement to it.
The whole album is something fresh and new for the guys which is what they needed. Plus, the overall production is much improved. That last part is quite a big thing since IWY's overall production was an absolute mess at times.

Merriam Webster definition since the word is actually American English- 'A male singer who sings slow, romantic songs in a soft, smooth voice.' Could be Moz at times I suppose

Sorry for being lazy but is there any documentaries or movies about Rolling Stones/Keith Richards during 60-70s?
I've seen that Keith Richards documentary from netflix.
Oh and any Led Zeppelin documentary suggestions?

Thanks guigsysEstring. I also found Led Zeppelin The Song Remains The Same (1976). Thought it would be good.

Thanks guigsysEstring . I also found Led Zeppelin The Song Remains The Same (1976). Thought it would be good. The band themselves aren't too fond of that IIRC, but it is a good time capsule of where they were mentally at that point in a similar way that Be Here Now encapsulates Oasis in 1997
