As the man said Time Flies, it's (yesterday) the Sixtieth Anniversary of the release of The Beatles' debut record "Please Please Me" on Friday March 22, 1963. It would have been great to see the releases all go down and experience Beatlemania in real time, but I got to see Oasis's rise. I feel that's the next best thing. One two three fawr! Just think the same band that this song three years later did Revolver then next year Sgt Peppers, you would think it be way longer. Just crazy. Those Beatles Anthologies are great listen especially part 2. It has best version of Across The Universe and I love acoustic version of I'm only Sleeping with just Lennon and McCartney on acoustic guitars. Also I prefer Real Love to Free As A Bird.

Elvis Costello should do about 70% less warbling when he sings. And bring the fucking volume down as well. It’s too much. Costello between 77 and 89 was untouchable. Releasing classic after classic in terms of albums and singles. I think people forget cause he's a lot more miss then hit these days, how awesome he was as a songwriter at his peak and how great him and the Attractions were as a live band. Drugged up arrogant Costello was peak Costello. Also love he's a big part why likes of Gram Parson's is so beloved these days. With his country covers album Almost Blue got a lot of people into that music. Pretty ballsy move after his golden run of albums he was on at the time.

I can’t get over how great The Stone Roses first album is and how I can’t finish The Second Coming.

I can’t get over how great The Stone Roses first album is and how I can’t finish The Second Coming. Breakin into Heaven should've been a 8 minute song at most.

Sad news The Script guitarist Mark Sheehan has died aged 46. I'm not really a fan of them but it's no age though.

New Beach Fossils song, first single from the new album. Instant fave. Second single is almost equally as good.

Still cannot believe that Johnny Marr was only 24 when The Smiths split up.
What amazes me more is that he was more or less the complete guitarist on their debut. This wasn't some raw punk who'd develop his skills later on in his career, he already had the technique and composition skills superior to those a decade older.
He'd more or less done everything a guitarist could do when they split. All done while basically being a kid.

Gave Second Coming by The Stone Roses another chance. It's still not as good as their first, but its not as bad as I remember. It's still really long and you can feel it drag.
What's worse though, Second Coming length or Be Here Now length?

What's worse though, Second Coming length or Be Here Now length? Lots of the length of Second Coming is from the inconsequential long as fuck intro on Breakin Into Heaven and the hidden track. Edit those down and you have 10 minutes back. Still long, but not overblown like it was released. Theres more dinamics on SC than BHN with the acoustic songs in the middle of the album, there's nothing that is dynamically similar on Be Here Now, only the first 90 seconds of Magic Pie and maybe Don't Go Away.

Great new qotsa single. Already released in NZ/Aussie land I'm not sold on the chorus(yet at least), but there is no doubt in my mind that I'll enjoy the new album.

I'm looking to do a full remix of ASIH to commemorate the 30th anniversary. Leckie's mixes are the greatest but wanted to update the sound for a more modern presentation with better dynamics and fuller sound. Was able to ring out Slide Away so far. The idea is to retain Leckie's original vision but enhancing the sound to give all four guys their proper place in the mix.

Really feeling this slowthai mess rn
I know it's not about me and obviously the first concern is the girl gets justice and manages to heal after whatever he puts her through, but besides that this is just a shit situation Artists I like/liked have been c*nts, did terrible things and all that, but I have such a deep connection to his music it's so weird to think he was writing stuff that helped me get through shit while committing something as horrible as rape TYRON has been one of my favourite albums from the last few years, I often used to go for walks and smash its Side B into my headphones whenever I was feeling bad, it was a loyal companion during that early 2021 lockdown nhs is one of my favourite songs ever, with that melancholic, slightly optimistic vibe and his unique phrase and release UGLY, while not as good, has been one of my most listened records of this year, and still held great meaning To think that he probably wrote it with all this in mind just changes the whole perspective and leaves such a bitter taste Ah, sorry for the rant, just feel bad

I... have been in musical heaven these last few days:
On Sunday night, I got to see Red Hot Chili Peppers, Thundercat and The Strokes live.
Then, on Tuesday night, I got to see The Cure live.
RHCP and The Cure were both unreal. The Cure especially. Robert Smith's voice is in top form, Simon Gallup is a bass genius and the whole band is so tight. Deep cuts, big songs, tearjerkers, dancers, incredible solos and amazing performances...it had it all. The Cure is just amazing live and I got to know the band on a deeper level than the 10-15 songs I knew before. Newsong, ...Deep Green Sea, Burn, Shake Dog Shake, Six Different Ways, It Can Never Be the Same. It was incredible.
RHCP was like a dream come true. They were the band that first got me into guitar playing when I was a teenage and it was unreal seeing John, Flea, Chad and Anthony all together; when just a few years ago it seemed like it was never going to happen again.
John and Flea were on fire all night. Anthony sounded great too. Chad was very good too, but he had a couple of slower moments. Still, they were fantastic.
Best moment of the night was Wet Sand. That outro solo had me puckered the fuck up and excited all the way through for the mere fact that they played it. Biblical.
There was a dude next to me who also loved the Chilis and we bonded over it that night hahaha
Thundercat was an amazing opener. His band is extremely talented and Thundercat is severely underrated. I freaking loved Dragonball Durag, Funny Thing, No More Lies and Them Changes but he was a freaking bop overall.
The Strokes were good, but Julian Casablancas was pissed drunk, maybe high too lol. He looked up at the open retractable roof at one point and went, "Is that the ceiling or am I hallucinating right now? What?" Reptilia was the highlight. I think I'd like them more if they had more songs like that tbh...
I love music and seeing artists live, man.....
