If this song was released today, instead of 1997, people would be proclaiming the return of U2 and remarking at how it's the freshest the band has sounded in years. Like, seriously. The way this song is produced with the way those high-pitched vocals are processed and used as instrumentation, the strong bass & drums, Bono's delivery and the lyrics he delivers were all way ahead of their time. Bono's lyrics around this time had great imagery, tells a good story but a really sad song though. They've redone it for the upcoming Songs of Surrender. Not one they've given any attention to since 1997 so looking forward to it. |

A really nice dream pop gem from Flyying Colours, the first single from their upcoming album. They're one of my favorite bands from the last few years and this new tune didn't disappoint at all.

Thank you! Unfortunately May is not a good time for concert travelling, as I'm already going away end of May. I would hope for a Vienna date, but unfortunately the gap between the dates in continental Europe and UK is right when I'm on holidays. So, knowing my luck in trying to see Mr Weller ... 🤪 My only chance would be if he squeezed us in between the other dates. |

BTW, just got my tickets for The National in September. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb by U2 isn't a be-all-end-all, great album but it's got some good tunes on it.
What stands above them all is Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own. The percussion adds a lot of space to the mix for The Edge's emotional delayed guitar and, above all, Bono singing with everything he has about his then-recently-deceased father. Top tune:
