Speed of Sound is arguably better than Clocks. fite me etc It has a better chorus and a cool space atmosphere, but Clocks has a great sense of urgency, a wonderful crescendo into the bridge, and an amazing piano riff that makes it such a classic over others, including SOS. Although, SOS is good in its own right.

Fuck, I just realized that I mislabeled some files on my computer, so I've been thinking all this time that All Across the Sands was Here It Comes and vice versa! Fuckin' hell.

I remember a torrent site thinking a completely different album (from a member of a band) was that band's latest. Also guigsysEstring, is it bad we agree on AC/DC needing to retire?

It's sad but inevitable, otherwise AC/DC will go on dropping members as they leave or die, eventually becoming essentially a very well paid tribute act for jobbing musicians and members of other bands. Also we are talking the singer Brian Johnson, a man who overcame replacing Bon Scott 36 years ago, so who replaces him now the band are in their sixties? Re: Phil Rudd you could almost argue replacing the drummer for the money at this late stage, but it will turn the into an older version of Guns n' Roses at this rate with the reversal being a revolving cast of singers and inevitably replacement musicians. It would be a farcical end to one of the great bands, who surely a) Don't need the money that badly and b) deserve better.

Jocke Brogden: 'Just Because You Play An Instrument Very Well Doesn't Automatically Make You A Songwriter'
Thoughts?

Jocke Brogden: 'Just Because You Play An Instrument Very Well Doesn't Automatically Make You A Songwriter' Thoughts? I think he should've specified by saying, "Just because you play an instrument very well doesn't automatically make you a great songwriter". That would've made the whole quote make sense, instead of basically just saying that if you play an instrument well, you don't automatically write stuff, like chord progressions and riffs. If you play an instrument very well, eventually you are going to get tired of playing just what you are learning, and you're going to end up making up stuff. That is technically songwriting, in some ways, and something that almost every person who has ever played an instrument for a long time has done at one point or another. So, a bit of a daft quote in some ways, imo, but with some further clarification, it could make sense.

Blur are great. Country House is a better tune than Roll With It.

What is Kasabian's best album? My brother just gave me 48:13, which I like, but is that their best album?

The best one is their debut album, and it's a pretty good one! They were not the same band anymore after Chris Karloff left.

You can not like Duran Duran but you have to admit they were/are an excellent band with great achievements in every level. An influential band with classic singles and a few great albums. They are not only a typical mega pop band with super hits, but they are also great musicians, songwriters, artists. From 1980 til now, for almost 35 plus years, they keep releasing music, high quality music, with recognition and love from people and from many other bands. Just look how many cover DD albums are around with even metal/alternative/indie bands to express their love for their music and cover their songs, again n again. If you dont like the hits, even if its hard to think someone not to like their 80s hits, i m definitely sure that you can find great album tracks in their discography, even better than the hits, real gems. A band with high ambition, musiclovers, always wanting to change and try different things, to experiment with styles and sounds. i adore some of their albums such as ''duran duran'' (1981), ''rio" (1982), ''notorious'' (1986), ''all you need is now'' (2011) and when it comes to their songs its impossible for me to make a list with so many great tracks. I m more into their albums tracks these days. of course they have crap albums and crap moments but when you r in the game for almost 40 years and dare to change i suposse that it s ok. i thought for many years that their were my guilty pleasure but their discography prove they are a real band, a great one and deserve to be up with the best.

Duran Duran is one of those bands I don't really mind, but don't really listen to either. They're in the category of "Bands that are just sorta there"
