People who say Flick of the Finger needs a chorus...
Does Columbia have a chorus?

It baffles me how much the first half of Don't Brother Me contrasts with the second half.
The instrumentation is solid in the first half but the lyrics and Liam's delivery is atrocious. The second half, meanwhile, has one of the most incredible and experimental interludes of any of the Gallagher-related discographies.

The second half, meanwhile, has one of the most incredible and experimental interludes of any of the Gallagher-related discographies. I remember they said DBM had a spacey outro then they put out a teaser of them in the studio with the end of soul love playing over the top and I assumed it was dont brother me. I was really hoping dont brother me was going to be a im outta time type thing with a nice melody and fairly good lyrics but ended up just being a forgettable acoustic track with some cheap lyrics. I dont even like the outro that much, it doesnt belong with the first half anywhow, just feels like its there just because its there, the end of soul love is better imo however that track is another Liam thing of having the potential to be a great track but he just cant get out those choruses, just ends up not really going anywhere.

If Inwould get a penny for every fucking time the "lack of chorus" thing comes up.... I would have around 6 pennies.
Not every song needs a chorus and in Soul Love is one and its a good one in my opinion. I don't need a cty out loud and put every emition in that one fucking piece of a song while a invisible hairblower dries your sweaty chesthair and makes you look like leonardo dicaprio on the titanic while he painted mona lisa epic gets millions jumping chorus.

Reducing songs to the chorus is like fucking just for the climax and not enjoying the act itself. Sometimes its not even necessary to have one...

Third post.... It really pisses me of how much people think all songs need to be written in a certain structure. How boring would that be?

Many thanks Listening to a Beady Eye song is often like a man with ED trying to get a climax. Doesn't matter how hard he tries, without a chemical aid, he's not getting there.

Listened to BE and all its bonus tracks the other day. Thoroughly enjoyed it tbh. Later in the day I spent over an hour vomiting in the toilets at a train station but I don't think the two things are connected.

My Spotify randomized Flick of the Finger then played The Right Stuff after and it sounded like the beginnings of an Oasis record that could be up there with the greats. Flowed incredibly well from one song to the other. Made my fucking day.

I don't really think it's that every song necessarily needs to have a chorus, but more that a lot of Beady Eye songs don't really go anywhere or have bits where you'd expect a chorus and...nothing happens. They need something to lift it up a bit.

I think soul is fantastic, love the dark spacey outro with Liam closing out "everything I do, its all for you...its all for you....all for you"
I think had beady eye been a better with their choruses across other songs, this one wouldve stood out as an alone on the rope type thing.
Id actually be quite pleased to get something like this again from Liams solo record, just better.

Listened to "BE" the other day, it had been sitting on the shelf for a long time. I always liked this album a lot, but I didn't remember it was THAT good! Shame it didn't get the success it deserved due to Gem's injury forcing Beady Eye to cancel their festival dates, that really killed the momentum for them after mostly positive reviews of the album in the press.
If Liam's album is as good as "BE", let alone even better, I'll be really happy.

Somehow, the only Beady Eye song I still listen to regulary is FOTF. The intro strikes me every time.

"Dreaming of Some Space" would be a great The Stone Roses track if it had Reni drumming.

I decided to give Beady Eye (and also NGHFB) another listen today. Neither has been my thing, but "Back After The Break" and "Off At The Next Exit" are beautiful, definitely new favorites.
