I'm just listening to The Beat Goes On and it sounds really really familiar. It's like I've heard that melody somewhere before. Any ideas?
I love that song btw.

Probably not what you were thinking of but from this part it reminds me of The Rolling Stones 'Child of the Moon' Also The Beatles 'Real Love' to my ears

I went to read youtube comments and someone actually mentioned that Stones song. But I think I haven't heard either of those songs before so it's not them guigsysEstring . I think it's the way he sings it. "Thought I'd know just what to do..." starting with low notes ,then it rises and later back down again. And it's not just that part, the whole song reminds me of something. But those are great songs you linked

Brilliant 6CD collection I brought on release years ago, in some ways the Davies brothers & Co. influenced the 'British' mod star look and sound more than The Beatles.

When Liam launches his eventual solo career this fall/winter, he should stay a 100 miles away from anything Beady Eye related. Fresh start. Fresh ears. New vibe hopefully.

Imagine he will open his first gig with an acoustic version of Standing On The Edge Of The Noise just like Noel did with (It's Good) To Be Free

That is after all a Gem song. Maybe Liam should open with "Start Anew".

Why did Liam end Beady Eye? Was it simply due to the mess of his personal life at the time? Did we ever get closure on this reasoning?

Why did Liam end Beady Eye? Was it simply due to the mess of his personal life at the time? Did we ever get closure on this reasoning? In a November 2014 interview with NME Andy Bell stated "Liam's heart wasn't really in it anymore', that the split was amicable but not much of a surprise- NME November 2014 That may or may not be diplomatic as Noel Gallagher was quoted as saying the following by Digital SpyIt probably had a lot to do with his personal life at the time, with his marriage failing and the start of a new relationship under scrutiny both in divorce courts and the public eye. That combined with lackluster sales for Beady Eye, the collapse of his plans to enter the film industry and the ongoing expansion of Pretty Green was possibly enough to make him think it wasn't worth carrying on the music side for that period. FWIW he seemed to be reassessing his life at the time with the end of his marriage, film company being dissolved and splitting his band, whilst focusing back on his new relationship and successful fashion label & retail business. The possibility of new music from Liam in the near future suggests to me he simply needed the break at the time to reevaluate his life and options, and having done that is hopefully on his way back to being, amongst other things, Liam the rock n' roll star

Liam said before they released BE that if it didn't sell he would retire from music. I thought that's what it was until recent rumours that he's coming back. I do hope he didn't think the records failed because of Gem and Andy. He's not a better songwriter IMO. So Beady Eye's demise was a team effort, so to say.

The Twang have proven much more longevity than Beady Eye could even dream of - 4 albums over 7 years. Now, I have a soft spot for the Twang, but that is just fucked up.

Not at all after all that along with the low sales for BE even after changing producers, style (as much as they could ) and Gem Archer's unfortunate injuries during promotional activities must have made them think "Are we jinxed and is this really worth it?"

I think it is good that they ended. Even if they made an Morning Glory or Definitely Maybe people would still slag it off or ignore it.
Liam should release his next album just under the name Liam Gallagher.

Four Letter Word, Millionaire, The Roller, Wigwam, The Morning Son, (Man Of Misery), World Outside My Room, Flick Of The Finger, Soul Love, Second Bite Of The Apple, Start Anew, The World's Not Set In Stone, Back After The Break, Off At The Next Exit and Evil Eye. These songs were proper Oasis songs if they were recorded with Noel. (I mean, not if they were Oasis songs but with Noel's input on the instrumentals / production of these songs) eva Fawkes , you talked about a Greatest Hits by Beady Eye? Here it is.

If tonight is all we have Then make the bed with sheets of glass Let’s take it out for one last laugh Come on, come on If yesterdays is all we got We tie our bones in one big knot Squeeze it out ’til every drop Is all gone, all gone Come on It’s just a wind up dream So don’t wake me up ‘Cause I like what I see With my eyes shut Whooo! Solid gold glints in your eye A cheeky grin that really makes me smile The world will want a bit The world will want a bit It’s just a wind up dream So don’t wake me up ‘Cause I like what I see With my eyes shut Aah, aah Aah, aah Aah, aah Aah, aah It’s just a wind up dream So don’t wake me up ‘Cause I like what I see With my eyes shut Aah, aah Aah, aah Aah, aah Aah, aah *Dedicated to Beady’s Here Now
