What a tune Falling Down is. I remember listening to it before DOYS came out... great times. Time flies indeed.

Not to bring up the whole DOYS alternate track list thing again but if they had just gone with To Be Where There's Life, Come on Outside, Falling Down, I Believe in All, Soldier On, and Boy With the Blues as the back half (after I'm Outta Time), it would've been at or around that great status.

DOYS's strong songs are so strong that they make up for its weak songs. which, compared to HC and DBTT, aren't that weak. y'all are crazy DOYS is still a stellar record

I have said it before and I will say it again, the only reason Bag It Up and The Turning are considered these brilliant tracks is due to the album they are on. Stick them on any other Oasis album and they'd be lost among other tracks that are equally as weak and poor as the other albums.

DOYS is weak. Falling Down is a good song but except for that the album lacks of melodies.

Everything after Falling Down are b-side quality songs at best. There is nothing there. ----- I also don't buy that simply swapping in some of the other tracks (BWTB, IBIA, etc.) would fix the record either. While I would enjoy the album to have swapped out some tracks... it's clear that when it came time to put together this record, the fellas couldn't be arsed to make it what it should be. The end was easy to see.

DOYS is a good, respectable record for the band which could have been great (easily the band's 3rd best had they bothered).
'Bag It Up', 'The Turning', 'Waiting For the Rapture', 'The Shock of the Lightning', 'I'm Outta Time', 'Falling Down' and 'To Be Where There's Life' are all very solid album tracks. The rest are alright and overly hated IMO.

I can see Bag It Up as an average Oasis song, fine. But The Turning is what Morning Glory would have sounded like if it was recorded in 2007/2008. It's a quality track... and I'd argue that it gets too little praise from fans because of the surrounding album. People tend to not even mention DOYS tracks in conversation on the forum... as if the album didn't happen. It may not be at the level of upper-tier Oasis (Don't Look Back in Anger, Live Forever, Champagne Supernova, etc.), but it is certainly on par with many "classics" from the early years (Roll With It, Hello, Hey Now, Cast No Shadow, She's Electric, Shakermaker, Up In The Sky, Digsy's Dinner, Married With Children, Bring It On Down, and most of the b-sides that get insane praise).

I'm Outta Time and Shock Of The Lightning are the best post BHN tunes in my opinion. Also Ain't Got Nothin has got to be Liam's best rocker and I'm sure it wouldn't get the disproportionate amount of hate it gets if The Meaning Of Soul hadn't have been on DBTT.

I thought my take above was controversial... then you walk in the room and say... I like your style. Carry on.

Here’s a weird thought: by the end of this year we’ll have had more albums from the Gallagher’s post-Oasis than with Oasis.
They’ve released more albums in 9 years than Oasis did in 15.

Youtube autoplay made me binge some Oasis stuff I haven't listened to much lately. I gotta say I enjoyed hearing Born on a Different Cloud and Keep The Dream Alive!
I don't think they've got many spins in the past couple of years so it was kinda refreshing too.

I’ve been listening to the Definitely Maybe Whitfield Street studio masters, and I can’t remember: were these from the original Dave bachelor produced sessions? Or the second round of recording (Olympic studios, or sawmills?)
I used to be so smart, I used to know all these things. Now I feel like I have perpetual brain damage. Anyone else in their mid 30s get this?

Peter Doherty borrows a snippet of Don't Look Back in Anger on his new album (out today). Which track? Someone Else To Be. It's a combination of The Velvet Underground’s Ride Into The Sun and DLBIA, two songs he loves.
