The video of Morning Glory deserves an emmy. One of my favorite Oasis videos, if not my absolute favorite.

ever since I discovered oasis back in september (only knew of DLBIA before I heard a friend of mine listening to shakermaker and I was like "wots dat?") there hasn't been a single day I haven't listened to a single oasis/beady eye/nghfb song. actually, I listen to oasis for at least 2 hours a day
words cannot describe the first time I heard Don't Go Away. it just hit me so hard... it reminds me of my now deceased first girlfriend, and throws me back to when I was ~14-15 about 7 years ago. especially the "and as the day was dawning/my plane flew away" part, last time we saw each other was at an airport, and it was a really cold day. I sometimes try to avoid listening to it because it saddens me, but it really is a beautiful song

I never really understood why some people dislike Digsy's Dinner- I mean, it's just like She's Electric, it's a lighthearted, happy song about not living life wisely, tea time and fucking lasagna. what could ever top that? it also has a really nice and catchy melody, and the piano solo just gives you that warm childhood-like feeling of absolute carefreeness and eternal sunshine

Noel's nose is digsy's response iirc. Smaller's (one of Digsys bands) album (Badly Badly) is actually really good. Check out "Is", Noelly G plays on that track.

I was watching an interview with Lindsay Buckingham (guitarist from Fleetwood Mac) and he was asked what work he is most proud of. His response was that it was the stuff he did on Tusk (the follow-up to Rumours) even though it flopped.
That got me thinking how instead generally Noel seems to follow the general public opinion on his albums rather than have any of his own. Maybe it's just coincidence but the two albums which are generally dismissed by the public and critics (BHN and SOTSOG) are also dismissed as being shit by Noel and vice-versa the three albums which are considered the best (DM, MG and DBTT) are also his three favourites.
The only differences he seems to share are on HC which he appears to like but then again even that sold well.
It's obviously his opinion but it'd be nice to hear him say something which doesn't follow general consensus

Some questions:
Was the 'Chasing The Sun' project Noel's idea?
Does Liam have a say in the future releases of Oasis?
Why wasn't Don't Go Away an UK/Europe single?
Was Guigsy Noel's new target after Tony got sacked?

Was Guigsy Noel's new target after Tony got sacked? I'm pretty sure that DGA wasn't released as a single in the UK because they simply didn't have the songs to make up the bsides. Theres a Noel quote where he says something like "i couldnt be arsed to record new bsides". The single got a release in Japan purely to promote the Japan tour dates that occurred at the same time i think.

Was Guigsy Noel's new target after Tony got sacked? Yes. All of it. No, only Noel. He's the Stalin of the band. Because they were on drugs. Yes, obviously. It's all one big conspiracy, if you ask me.

Also try his eighties combo Cook da Books for a very different (if somewhat dated) sound Or his current outfit The Sums (essentially a reconfigured Smaller) interview & music from 2011

My Big Mouth was brilliant on the last tour. Usually when bands bring songs down a step, it lacks in energy, but they nailed the arrangement when doing it for MBM. Although it made the song a little less branch, it gave it a little more tension, which fit the mood & atmosphere of the DOYS era perfectly.

Weird how 90s Oasis can still do that to me. When I became a fan, there was a chunk of the Be Here Now stuff and a couple of other b-sides I wasn't keen on at all, but little by little, song by song, as the years have gone by, I've come to love just about everything they did 94-98. But anyway, back to Digsy's Dinner, I think it's the way it's produced. Quite harsh. Especially compared to She's Electric, which is just loveliness personified, with all its guitar licks coming out of the different channels. That softer touch with the production helps it achieve the 'lighthearted' feel more successfully than Digsy's Dinner, in my opinion.

You're right. It would've worked better as the second-to-last track on DOYS, with BWTB following it. You sure about that? BWTB has always been the perfect penultimate song to me. And Soldier On is the apocalyptic end, so why have anything after that? Very true. My only argument for having BWTB as the final track, after SO, would be for how the intro is like a continuation of the outro, but just pitched higher. Otherwise, I completely agree with how SO is a definite apocalyptic end. What Noel and Sardy should've done, if they really wanted to be creative, they could've put BWTB about 40 seconds after SO, and then released it as a single, with no press about it at all. Then when the single gets released, people who bought the album would figure out what the hidden track was.

Guess it's a bit like when a parent gets to experience the wonder of things all over again, through the eyes of their children, it takes you back to when you first heard those songs yourself. For instance, I remember in 2011, at the peak of my fandom, deleting all my other music, and just having Oasis, Noel solo, and Beady Eye in my iTunes library. It stayed like that for a good few months. Just didn't see the point having any other artists' work when (What's the Story) Morning Glory was sat there waiting for me to listen to it for the 750th time. And wow, I'm sorry to hear about your ex-girlfriend. Truly heartbreaking. But they often say sad songs make us feel happy, for some reason, so I hope Don't Go Away offers you some comfort. I don't have any connection to it like that, but I would absolutely agree, it's a thing of real beauty.

I wish Noel would stop slagging off BHN.
He talked about Fade In-Out on the radio show like it's nothing.
It's one of if not the greatest tracks Oasis ever made! It's like the doors on acid trying to sound like the stones on coke.
Fucking great. In fact it should have been much longer too.
Imagine an atmospheric/Floyd-esque 20 minute version of fade in-out. Would have been incredible!!
Yeah yeah yeah !!
