They both received relatively positive reviews from Pitchfork? Wtf? They both received better scores than Be Here Now, which, in case you're wondering, got a 5.9. And just looking again now, it seems that's not even the half of it: they gave The Masterplan a 3.7, which means, by their estimation, that Coldplay's latest excretion is superior. And even on retrospective reviews Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory only got 8.8 and 8.9 respectively, meaning that apparently the Beatles' Let It Be is a superior record to Oasis' first two. Now, I love the Beatles, and Let It Be definitely does have its moments, but better than Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory? Get outta town! Scandalous site. Glad I didn't know it, before. However, here in France, we have a site that rates any kind of artistic stuff (music, litterature, cinema) and where it is people who give a mark out of 10. Definitely Maybe gets 7/10, Morning Glory Glory gets 7,1/10 while Let It Be gets a solid 7,5/10. Even With The Beatles gets a better mark than any Oasis'album !

With The Beatles is so obviously the product of greedy record bosses seeing pound signs after the success of Please Please Me, demanding the Fab Four get in the studio as quick as possible and churn out another batch of songs. And so, predictably, it's absolutely chock-a-block with filler. Regarding Pitchfork, I always feel it's a shame they are as they are, because for other artists, I always give their reviews a look in - they're well written (if slightly pompous) and offer up plenty of interesting vignettes on the artists career. But when it comes to Oasis they're just blinded by their hatred of what they perceive to be the Gallagher's personalities. Rolling Stone are much the same.

I swear, every time I go an extended period without listening to 90's Oasis, and then listen to them again, it's as if I'm discovering them for the first time. There is something fucking magical about each and every track from that era, from Supersonic to Flashbax. Oasis may never be the best band that ever existed, but they are forever immortal in my world because of this immaculate run. Let's all take the time today to forget that anything post '98 ever happened and remember why we love this band. Listened to Up In The Sky for the first time in a while today. My heart was ready to burst out my chest. What a fucking tune. Shades of Paperback Writer with a little bit of punk and some Stone Roses-like acoustic guitars added in. Awesome song that also features one of Liam's best vocal performances.

Yeah French people have no taste when it comes to Oasis. Yes, senscritique.

Liam was the face of the band and Noel was the brain of the band, but without Bonehead, Guigsy and Alan there wouldn't have been Oasis.

Without downplaying the other members' importance: To me, Liam was the heart and Noel was the soul of Oasis.

Just saw a 90's SNL skit parodying the Questions for the Prime Minister. "Can we not all agree that Oasis are the best band since the Beatles?"

Why does anybody care how many points your favourite record gets anywhere outside your mind? Is it that important that some bloke who wrizes for a french music site gives an album that changed yourlife 10/10? Maybe it did not change his life. Does that make it a worse album for you?

Nah that doesn't change anything. I will still love the records that I love, no matter everyone else can think. What is tiring, it's the lack of objectivity of some "experts" who clearly, don't rate the music for what it is but rather for what it would them look like to the musical specialised press. Pure poserism.

https%3A//soundcloud.com/stoneroseavenger/ihitik-acoustic-hidden-track Was messing with the EQ on I Hope I Think I Know, and then afterwards decided to OOPS it (Out of Phase Stereo). Turns out, buried beneath that immense soundwall of guitars, is a acoustic guitar track! You can hear it if you listen very closely but it is a great find!

For example I am more in love with the last two Oasis records than the first two and nearly nobody understand that I would give them more points if I would have to rate them

I think that I've figured out why every Sardy record sounds the way it does:
DBTT: Sounds half-finished because it was a rush job. Oasis was sick and tired of recording the album again and again and couldn't be bothered to polish it. Hence the rough vocals and thin production
DOYS: The best produced of the bunch, because Sardy was involved from start to finish.
HFB: Sounds overproduced because Sardy was producing over Noel's original recordings. Hence why it sounds muddy and cluttered.

I've come to really appreciate Soldier On. That hypnotic groove, combined with ethereal echoes and haunting melodica, makes it perhaps the creepiest Oasis song, before the faint feedback in the outro suddenly rises and swallows the song. Absolutely brilliant.
