Trust me, if you played that at my school - and I presume most - the vast majority would know what it was and be able to sing along. Anyway, it looks like I'm gonna have to delete some stuff to make room for this...Sorry, Venetian Snares.

Anyway, it looks like I'm gonna have to delete some stuff to make room for this...Sorry, Venetian Snares. I don't know what school you go to, but where I went, there'd be no more than perhaps a quarter of my year able to separate one Beatles song from another. And I'll tell you how I know that... I remember once in an "indoor PE lesson" (it was table tennis. It was always table tennis. Every time it rained...) we had in the hall (the girls were "dancing" everywhere else indoors) our teacher got YouTube up on the big projector screen-thing - no doubt so he wouldn't have to do any actual teaching or bother talking to the pupils he didn't have much time for (those of us who didn't play in the school football/rugby teams) - and Champagne Supernova popped up as a related video. Obviously, keen not to get pasted by a fat kid and lose face in front of the rest of my group, I asked someone else to go on instead of me, as hearing Liam voice at such a volume, reverberating around the cold grey walls of that hall would have no doubt infringed on my concentration (or mere ability to function). Anyway, there I was, just about stopping myself from either air-guitaring or grinning like a chesire cat on heat, when I suddenly hear from over by "The Weed Table" - the table reserved for those who dabbled in that naughtiest of class C drugs, marajuana - "this song makes me want to slit my wrists"... I've seen this same guy and other such "lads" refer to songs like 'Locked Out Of Heaven' by Bruno Mars as "old but gold". OLD but gold. The song came out in 2012. In fact, I saw just the over day one of my best mates from school tweeting his dismay at not managing to get tickets for Justin Bieber's next tour - you know, what with him releasing so many "bangers" recently... But anyway, I'm rambling. Point is: if there really are young folk out there who don't know songs like Champagne Supernova, and who think songs that came out a mere three years ago are "old" - and that how old a song is somehow infringes on its quality - I doubt many young teens these days will be well up on their Beatles. Obviously there are exceptions, me and thee and all the other hip young things on here for a start, but in a world of Snapchat and Instagram, where perhaps more than ever before, people are constantly looking for the next easily-accessible fad to latch onto (whether it be entering into "fandoms", or listening to du( m)bstep) old records where you actually have to invest a bit of time and effort to get into them, I think are largely getting ignored.

^ Tbh, Champagne Supernova isn't exactly Oasis' biggest hit. Might have had a better shot with Wonderwall.
Also, The Beatles are in a different league than Oasis of course.
Anyway, there's a video on Youtube where they show children the Beatles. I'll look for it.
Edit:

Fucking NME. Can't grasp the fact that the listen count hasn't been updated yet. 400 000 listeners and Hey Jude has been listened to less than 1 000 times? Bullshit.

i don't get this streaming stuff. It's pretty useful if you are away from home. Of course carrying a gramophone on the bus along with all your favourite records can be fun too.

But sometimes you want to listen to something you don't own or forgot to put on your iPod. Disappointed they haven't included the Anthology series or the mono albums yet.

Your right this is the whole point of streaming, its just another form of advertising really. listen stuff you dont own and then if you like it people will then go buy it (or the mono albums etc) or buy the merch or see you on tour etc. Obv artists have to look at bigger picture some royalties are better than just loosing out too piracy.
