The intro, those guitar chords, the raw power in Bono's voice, it's just incredible, and their performance of this song after 9/11 at the Super Bowl was unreal. This has to be one of the greatest album openers of all-time.

Ahahah I knew somebody was gonna ask,I know it's an unpopular thing to say but yes I prefer the original version The Gary Jules version is alright, but it just sounds like another depressed slow ballad to me,while the Tears For Fears one is a bit more unique,it really gives you the idea of a MAD world, not a sad one

Ahahah I knew somebody was gonna ask,I know it's an unpopular thing to say but yes I prefer the original version The Gary Jules version is alright, but it just sounds like another depressed slow ballad to me,while the Tears For Fears one is a bit more unique,it really gives you the idea of a MAD world, not a sad one It's certainly a unique opinion I just think the verses have one of the most bleakly beautiful melodies of all time, but it doesn't really come across in the original. The piano arrangement also fits the lyrics a lot better IMO, both weary but emotional. It's really weird you said that bit about "Sad World", I always thought that should have been the chorus/title - seems to be closer to what the lyrics are about. Both versions have strengths though As to the thread question, the only Oasis songs in my top 20 would be D'You Know What I Mean?, Champagne Supernova, and Don't Look Back in Anger. I just love more Oasis songs than almost any other band, rather than my favourite songs being Oasis ones. Anyway, I'd probably say my top ten (no way I'm picking one ) non-Oasis songs as of this moment are: Idioteque - Radiohead Windowlicker - Aphex Twin Politik [Live 2003] - Coldplay Varuo - Sigur Ros Possibility - Lykke Li First Love Never Die - Soko Desolation Row - Bob Dylan Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles That Summer, At Home I Had Become the Invisible Boy - The Twilight Sad Parallel Jalebi - Four Tet It's all about people's interpretation I suppose,I think the original version's arrangement gives the lyrics an ironic twist that fits with concept and perception of a "mad" world

My #1 favourite song isn't an Oasis song. Hell, my favourite song isn't even a Beatles song!
