Best Oasis song. Ever.
Great lyrics, great vocals, great melody, great guitar and drums.
Eclipses Live Forever - but not by much.
Incredible song
I love the ending: Dont Know, Dont Care, All I know is that you can take me there
and when Noel and Liam shout "WHAT FOR" during gigs...
very special song

One of the best songs, born in Manchester since "Ever Fall In Love Again" by Buzzcocks, "Reel Around The Fountain" by The Smiths and "Sugar Spin Sister" by The Stone Roses.

it's soooo good... one of oasis best moments, I don't like the live version too much but the studio version is fantastic. There's an acoustic version sung by Noel and that's great too

It's my favorite, however I don't see Liam doing much justice to the song live anymore.

Love it - and the little riff at the beginning... just brilliant.
Yes I like Noel doing it too.

I couldn't agree less with that. Yes, Noel can now sing better than Liam, but there is nothing special about Noel's voice. I've heard a hundred different pub singers that can sing like Noel. I've yet to hear anyone that can touch Liam's old voice. And Liam on Slide Away is where he shined the most.
Also on Noel's voice, it is kind of annoying now. My brother pointed it out. He sings everything now like "Look how sad and tender my voice is." He sings every song the same now especially acoustic. Oasis is about happy music, and Noel does sad covers of their songs. He sang the best in 2000. That's when he finally found his voice, had some confidence and went after it. Now he's too confident in it and has developed the "Sad Noel" voice. He makes songs boring. Magic Pie-boring. WDIAGW=Boring. POTQ=super boring Force of Nature=puts me to sleep.

I wouldnt be that tough on Noel but I see what you mean I've posted about that a few times and always said that I love OASIS, I love the rockers and the ballads but noel alone would be boring noel's voice is not screwed and it's a good thing but Liam is the one with THE voice (even if it's damaged now) and I'm not a fan of rockers covered in a ballad way by noel Morning Glory is a good rock song and I really dont like to hear it the "whiney" sad way

Hmmm If I were at a gig I'd certainly want Morning Glory done the 'rocking' way, but I do like Noel singing it when I'm in a quiet mood. Same with Slide Away. I've enjoyed watching the gigs Noel's been doing without Liam. He's just different. And it's a testament to his song writing that his music can be done in different styles and give different moods. Whine?? Occasionally yes, I will have to agree and yes there is nothing to beat Liam's voice (early days), but there are occasions when Noel's hits the right button for me

Noel is excellent in "his" songs Liam can't be beaten on "his" songs ("his" means songs that were originally sung by...)

Noel is excellent in "his" songs Liam can't be beaten on "his" songs ("his" means songs that were originally sung by...) Caro summed it up best there. Finally, you did something correct Just as Liam owns Slide Away, Noel owns DLBIA... I think this is the case for 2 reasons: 1.) We're used to Noel singing "his" songs, and Liam singing "his" if you will 2.) Since Noel has always sung DLBIA, and since Liam always sung Slide Away, it becomes apart of them thus they have more emotion to those songs... Noel does a good rendition of Slide Away, but it cant touch Liam, and vice-versa with DLBIA with Liam singing.... Although Noel did a great acoustic job with Gem -- it was something different with that song, and Noel brought some good emotion to it, i thought...

Noel voice is higher and like that it's better for DLBIA, his voice can lift the song up (if you know what I mean), Liam voice is stronger but more flat than Noels...I think AATW would sound much better if it was sung by Noel, his voice has the ability to emphasize refrain (like Little by little or DLBIA)

I really like listening to Noel, he's a very good, clean, singer, in my opinion. Liam has a special voice, though, and yeah, I think people can recognize Oasis easily when they hear his voice. But together they're the best! Slide Away's so very brilliant

I agree with you, except that PotQ is a fuckin' great tune and that Noel's sad voice works for some songs such as Little By Little and Don't Look Back In Anger. I do agree his peak was in 2000, simply amazing.

Amazing song. So beautiful. One of the best ever written. It works so many ways..rockier, acoustic, sung by Liam or Noel.

Does anybody know what Noel's singing during Slide Away at about 4:17 while Liam's singing "slide away, slide away, slide away."? I could never quite make out what he's saying here.

If Noel would have sung Wonderwall it wouldn;t have been as good. End of discussion.

'I don't know, I don't care' 'All I know is you can take me there' Then it's 'Take me there, take me there' over and over again until they both sing/shout 'What for?'
