Time for a Verve elimination thread. Starting with Urban Hymns because it is the most well known.
The tracklist: including B-sides
Main Bittersweet Symphony Sonnet The Rolling People The Drugs Don't Work Catching the Butterfly Neon Wilderness Space and Time Weeping Willow Lucky Man One Day This Time Velvet Morning Come On Deep Freeze
Ashcroft written B-sides Lord I Guess I'll Never Know So Sister Three Steps The Crab Never Wanna See You Cry
First round is a triple elimination! I vote for This Time. Never cared for this one.

Love this album, though it's been ages since I've heard it! I'd have to listen to the album again to determine a least favorite (and the b-sides!! Need to check those out!!) but The Rolling People is an absolute tune. I'm secretly hoping it wins even though we all know that Bittersweet Symphony wins without even trying.

Not gonna lie, I love the idea of this thread, and will vote, but I haven't listened to the b-sides in years, and one or two I'm not even sure I've heard. I'll check them out again, but until I do, please don't think there's a lack of interest, I have the interest of like 3 people!

Deep Freze, if we needed a more pointless secret track than the cage this one would be it.

Deep Freeze
Besides the singles, One Day is the song I listen to the most.

May just keep this to a single elimination since everyone is voting for Deep Freeze? Anyone else before I end it?

Changing it to a single elimination, Deep Freeze is gone.
The tracklist remaining:
Bittersweet Symphony Sonnet The Rolling People The Drugs Don't Work Catching the Butterfly Neon Wilderness Space and Time Weeping Willow Lucky Man One Day This Time Velvet Morning Come On Lord I Guess I'll Never Know So Sister Three Steps The Crab Never Wanna See You Cry
My vote is still for This Time. Depending on how many votes vary this round it will be a multiple elimination.

I would eliminate Neon Wilderness.
(and This Time is one of my favourites off the album!)

I would eliminate Neon Wilderness. (and This Time is one of my favourites off the album!) I like neon wilderness in the context of UH but if I had to pick a least favorite verve song that would be it(Deep Freeze insnt even a song).

One Day
Tbh, I've never really fully enjoyed this album that much. I like the front half up to and including Neon Wilderness (probably my favourite off the album, something about it that's relaxing but kinda forces you wide awake at the same time), but the second half of the album always sounds a bit repetitive imo, apart from Come On right at the end. I'm guessing Neon Wilderness looks like it's going to go, so I'm hoping for The Rolling People to win now...

Round over. Neon Wilderness is eliminated.

My vote stays for This Time.

The Rolling People, I feel like it would've made more sense on Northern Soul more than on this album.

Never Wanna See You Cry. Sounds like a below average solo Ashcroft number. Which it kind of is.
