As it looks like we're going to get the Knebworth live album / DVD before the BHN reissue it's about time we had a thread!
I love this era so much. So Spinal Tap: "My guitar amp is 108dB - louder than a rocket taking off!"
What do people expect from this release? What do you want from this release? Were you there? Any good memories?
I really want to see some behind the scenes and/or tour footage.

Id like a proper feature length documentary film to go alongside a best of both nights concert film. Liam MUST get involved.

^ What exactly will happen if Liam gets involved? And what will happen if he won't?

I also hope for Liam to be involved but he won't be able to talk a lot about Knebworth i guess after hearing his thoughts about it im the Live Forever movie.
What i wish for: Both nights uncut on dvd/br and cd. A proper documentary including footage of the rehearsels and also some live footage from the support acts.
What we get: A mix of both nights on video plus maybe a short extra dvd with Interviews...

Not really that arsed to be honest, I own most the songs live from one gig or another apart from the two BHN songs and I've seen the concert before and didn't think it was that great (Maine Road and Earls Court are much better musically IMO)
Behind the scenes would be interesting if done properly but we'll probably just get a retrospective thing with Liam saying 'I don't remember, I got pissed on the first night' Noel saying his amps were louder than NASA and Bonehead being Bonehead with Guigsy and Alan nowhere in sight

^ What exactly will happen if Liam gets involved? And what will happen if he won't? He'll be interviewed, in a separate location to Noel, and recall very little :-) "We were just fookin' 'avin' it man! It didn't matter if it was 125 thousand people or just 125 people - we just fookin' 'ad it. Proper rock 'n' roll, d'yer know waramean?"

Hopefully get the first night uncut, if not then I'd be happy with the second night, as long as they are uncut

I hope they release it as a live album too, not just a DVD/bluray.

Do you happen to know if that is separate to the footage Tim Abbott was shooting from 94-96, or was part of it David?

Generally live albums and DVDs don't excite me. Not sure why. It's gotta be something unique to turn me on. Like Nirvana Unplugged.

Not sure, but if I recall correctly I think Operation Gold may have included separate footage shot by Dick Carruthers' team. I can't find a supporting quote for that right now - there used to be a credit for filming Knebworth somewhere on his Cheese Film and Video site but I can't find the reference now. I think Brian Cannon shot some footage of Knebworth, as well as Tim Abbot. Brian is quoted in Paul Mathur's Oasis book Take Me There as saying they shot many hours of footage of the band around 96-97. As far as I know the main clip of Tim Abbot's footage that's been released is in the documentary film Upside Down: the Creation Records Story, albeit without the original audio. If memory serves there are two short clips from it, showing NG and Owen Morris at the mixing desk, which were used to illustrate Noel's anecdote about Alan McGee's suggestion to "turn the hi-hat up on the second verse" of Rock n Roll Star. There are extensive stills from it in Tim's book Oasis.Definitely of course, including grabs of footage shot during the recording of Champagne Supernova.

Thanks for great detail and indo as always David, it was that Mathur reference I was recalling from around that period, along with Tim's more bitter comments in "My Magpie's Eyes Are Hungry For The Prize" by David Kavanagh

Above: Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher at Rockfield’s Coach House studio during the main tracking session for (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? The console pictured is a 60-channel Neve VR with flying faders. The sessions were recorded on a Studer A820 (not shown). Original footage by Tim Abbot. Frame reproduced from DVD edition of Upside Down: The Creation Records Story documentary by kind permission of Document Films.

Why do people expect/want both nights to be released?
The setlist was exactly the same right? Therefore I expect they'll choose one night or pick the better version of each song from each night and mix and match.
