give me your opinion , i think he should have taken better care of it but whatever i think its the most distinctive thing about oasis sound whether in top form or not ,, i like the edgy voice he has now the band need to turn down there sound a bit , all you have to do is watch the brits 07 they are playing over him , give me your opinion

its a good topic and one that should keep being talked about , my point is that i dont think it is they are always just playing to loud over him so he has to belt these songs out instead of singing them , it may have something to do with zaks intense drumming style it makes the rest of the band feel the need to play really loud hence liam struggles to sing over that volume

He also has quite a weak voice, which he can do nothing about. On album tracks (recently Within You Without You), which he records with his head straight, he is easily one of the best singers I know. He lost vocal range, but his voice itself is really cool. In my opinion, Oasis should only release albums instead of going on tour. This way they can make an album every 1-2 year(s). The DBTT tour just isn't worth listening to (only Manchester, but that's because the audience is louder than Liam).

Point is if he wants to improve it, he can. Otherwise it'll stay the same or get even worse.

I'm very sorry because I adore Liam, but he's finished. His voice is destroyed. The last album with beautiful voice of Our Kid is Be here now. After it, the emptiness.

Be Here Now....his last great voice???
Have you heard Who Feels Love?, Let's All Make Believe, Roll It Over, Stop Crying Your Heart Out.....
He needs to just sing differently when live and use the amps and not purposely scream so much.

By The way Liam sounded great in Atlanta in '05. Now this was after a 5 day break b/c of a cancelled concert a few days before in Houston b/c of a hurricane.

It's just his voice on the last album, and last tour was horrendous. I am sure him and the band have noticed and will try to improve on it come next album. BTW do you guys think the incident which he got his teeth knocked loose did anything to change his voice?

No.
I thought (and I still think) Liam souded great whey they played "Within You Without You" a couple of months ago. To me he's still one of the greatest singers and the frontmen in the world.
Don't forget guys, he was 20, 21 when they recorded DM and now it's 13 years later. Voice is a living thing. It grows through the years and he's got the voice like a good wine. D'yer know what I mean?

there is a documentary about oasis on youtube called "there we were...now here we are" consisting of bits taken from the interviews which were done for the definitely maybe dvd. and i remember liam saying something like singing was more like shouting in tune. oasis is just a very very loud band... 14 years of singing at that high volume have taken their toll on liams voice. however, he still sounds great on acoustic versions like the one he and gem played of guess god thinks im abel on the late show in 2005. liam has a great voice, he will never lose it. the ability to sing at very high volume is the only thing he'll ever lose... and i dont mind anyway. i actually like his 'new' voice, you just have to get used to it. he's not 20 anymore

I've noticed his voice struggles a lot more when they do one of shows like festivals and The Brits. Once they get going on the road he has good nights and bad nights, but usually he's solid live. I saw them 12 times last tour and maybe 1 or 2 of those shows his voice was sub par, but no one cared cuz the band can carry him on off nights like any great band.

his voice sux live now. Would be fine if they did only two or three show a year but every other day for months at a time kills him. He should stop smoking! Still sounds excellent in the studio of course

I totally agree. For people who don't have to sing for a living, sure, maybe their voices don't change as much. But for someone like him, who makes a living on belting out loud rock and roll songs for months straight at a time, the voice can change drastically. And everyone has different vocal attributes, so some singers' voices might be able to hold up longer whereas other singers' voices will struggle sooner. Personally, being in a band of my own, I can hear a natural change in my voice from the recordings we had in 2005 compared to a few days ago. That's only two years, so imagine what it will sound like after a few more years. And I'm not even doing nearly as much vocal work as Liam.

Everybody are good in studio. I spoke about concerts. Last good times for Liam's voice has been in Be Here Now tour. I was just listening to some old gigs from 97/98 and he's really not singing too great in those as well. LIsten to Gmex 97 and he shouts his way through a lot of songs on that too. I agree that there is something wrong with his voice, but now that i go back and listen to older bootlegs I realize that a lot of it depends on how hard he's really trying. If he tries hard and gives a damn, then he's ok, otherwise he is horrid these days.

Some of you guys are getting way to skeptical... listen to this link from late 2000 that an unreal cover. My Generation is still amazing nowadays. Those aren't easy songs to pull of and he does a wonderful job. His voice has been shakey since around 2003-2004, but he's also had some great shows since then. His voice is different since MG, and he likes it like that (me too). It's more his own, and Noel can't fuckin do it

I've seen some concerts from 2002 where Liam's voice was even better than it was when SOTSOG came out...and I realized why. Like some have said, he needs to SING, not scream. When he sings, he still has that Liam magic for lack of a better word. When he doesn't, he just sounds like an idiot grunting along to the music, although he never loses his swagger. You know Liam is at his best when he's accentuating the end of words (ex: shine= shiiiiine)...now the only time you hear that is on the ballads, particularly his...Love Like A Bomb, Guess God Thinks I'm Abel, Keep the Dream Alive (though I know it's Andy's song).
SING Liam, don't scream

For Fuck Sakes....................
The horse is dead, it's been beaten to death. Now you wanna fuck it in the ass? If yas don't like how our Kid sings, then fuck off. If you like it, cool, you don't have to defend his voice to everyone that comes on here talkin smack... That's almost as annoying as the people who are constantly slaggin it.
