Which songs that Oasis/BDI/NGHFB made do you think maximized their potential? That had the production, mix, vocals and instrumentation that made them as good as they could of been? For me Wonderwall and The Shock of the Lightning come to mind. I don't see how they could've made better, IMO no mistakes were made creating the tracks at all. I'm a fan of most of the songs that they did, but whenever I listen to Slide Away for instance(amazing song) I always wish the backing vocals on the outro were louder, and the Brendan Lynch mix of Champagne Supernova makes me realize how even more beautiful that track coulda been...

Definitely Wonderwall. One of Oasis' most perfect recordings.

I agree on Wonderwall. Don't Look Back In Anger is another one I wouldn't change a thing about, but that is my favourite Oasis song, so maybe my judgement on it is poor.

Wouldn't agree with The Shock Of The Lightning though, I think Dave Stodgy's production is a bit flat.

Ain't Got Nothing? What else could you have done with it.... In all seriousness Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger and for me Don't Go Away and Rockin' Chair. It does seem like the mid tempo ballads are the ones where the production and songs came together best.

Don't Look Back In Anger without a doubt.
I'd agree on Wonderwall and, even though it's not one of my absolute favourites, it's beautifully recorded, has a great set of lyrics and a memorable melody.
I'd like to be able to say The Masterplan, but then I found out that Liam could/should have sung it. I know Noel did a fantastic job with the vocals but a Liam sung Masterplan would send the song even higher into the stratosphere than it already is.
And of course, Live Forever.

I actually forgot about that, I have to agree that would have been an epic old school A and B side with just the two songs, with Round Are Way and possibly The Swamp Song appearing on other singles.

I can't agree on Don't Go Away. I think the guitars are too much. And I definitely can't agree on Liam singing The Masterplan. I think that's one of the songs that fits Noel to a tee.
Live Forever is a good one.

Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, Who Feels Love? would have sounded bad without the perfect production

The Masterplan is Noel's without question. That kind of wistful majesty on songs like this and Don't Look Back in Anger suit his voice perfectly.

Live Forever is a good one. Agree with all of this I love Don't Go Away however it should have been a beautifully simplistic song but like with everything on BHN it is drowned by layers and layers of guitars. It has this wonderful string arrangement in the background which is almost inaudible because of the fuzz Most of sotsog is also maximised by the production

They basically took out everything that makes the melody great.

The Masterplan is Noel's without question. That kind of wistful majesty on songs like this and Don't Look Back in Anger suit his voice perfectly. I agree, Liam probably couldn't've bettered Noel's vocals on those tunes (especially DLBIA - the best Noel's ever sounded imo) but you want wistful majesty, listen to the start of Champagne Supernova. Or his backing vocals on D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman? Doesn't get much better than that. But alas, Noel had to have the last word of every single decision that was made, and he clearly felt that he did those songs better, and so we'll never know what Liam might have sounded like now...

I like all of Morning Glory - Some Might Say has the weakest production but apart from that I love how all the tracks sound.
And I'm going to say Definitely Maybe - the raw sound helps really drive that album. It's naive and reckless but that's like punk isn't it - it's all about that spirit and the production helps the spirit shine through on Definitely Maybe.

Fade In/Out... live it's even better. Listen on headphones and check out some of the shit going on in the background.

D'You Know What I Mean? - The perfect song for the overcooked and coked up production of the BHN period that was basically just Wonderwall with some slight variations.

Ballad of the Mighty I. The recording of that song is great, and I especially love the solo/interlude portion. The strings give a nice depth to the sound, and the guitars sound just far enough away to really do something. I absolutely love it.
