One of the best threads on this forum imo. Good stuff in there. One of my favourite threads.

The Drugs Don't Work, but I absolutely love both songs. DGA is one of the most underrated Oasis songs imo.

Don't Go Away for me.
Off topic but why weren't the Real People credited byDon't Go Away? Feel the Pain has the same chorus

Feel the Pain has the same chorus There was a bit of controversy about that, but they weren't credited on the album nor the CD single. I've forgotten what they've done with it, but as I'm curious myself as well, I'll do some research.

Why not combine both songs into one super song entitled: 'The Drugs Don't Go Away'!
I dunno why, I've never been that big a fan of Don't Go Away. The Drugs Don't Work is heartbreaking though when considering its back story, so I'd go for that one definitely.

Having a song with "drugs" in the title just sounds utterly awful.
It's one of those songs too that you see a lot of aspiring guitarists trying to sing with oh-so-heartfelt-emotion... and it's like...
piss off!

The Drugs Don't Work, absolute masterpiece. One of the greatest songs of the 90s.

Its a serious song to be honest not a flippant one. Drugs Don't Work is the better song but I do love Don't Go Away. One of Liam best vocals.

The Verve are/were a bunch of spoofers, and Ashcroft is too skinny.

Petty arguments but, whatever. They never did a bad album. But they only had one album, didn't they? The Verve did three great albums and one good one, all with a unique sound. A Storm in Heaven was atmospheric shogaze, A Northern Soul was simple direct rock and Urban Hymns was psychedelic rock with some amazing pop balladry. Ashcroft had a great voice, was a great frontman, and wrote great lyrics. Nick McCabe is possibly the most underrated guitarist ever. A Storm in Heaven, A Northern Soul and Urban Hymns would be my favourite three album run of the nineties if it weren't for Oasis and Aphex Twin.
