Pretty nice, definitely a lot of MX vibes - maybe mixed with some Gorrilaz?

Didn't do much for me. The song has plenty of nice sounds, the video has some nice colours. That's about it.

So this song dates back to the Viva La Vida sessions. A surprise as it sounds nothing like anything from that album, but also not surprising because Enos influence is all over it sonically. Let's remember that Eno had a very hands off role during Mylo Xyloto and was only really credited with ambient interludes, so this songs creation going back to 2007-2008 would make sense in that respect.

Sounds like a Mylo track to me. I actually don't mind it. I'd prefer more stuff like this than all the shit on their last album. No more maroon 5 style Coldplay. #NotMyColdplay

Up&Up is another good repeat listen, but that's it. I'd rank it as: 1. All I Can Think About is You 2. Up&Up 3. A L I E N S 4. Birds 5. A Head Full of Dreams 6. Hypnotized 7. Adventure of a Lifetime (riff is one of Jonny's best but suffers from some of its pop tendencies) 8. Everglow 9. Amazing Day 10. Fun ...with everything else after that. They would've been better off just releasing an EP with the first 7 or 8 tracks but with a more stripped down AOAL (without the excess vocals) highlighting the solid guitar work on the song. How would you rank the AHFOD era songs?

Saw them Live at Croke Park, Dublin on Saturday. A Nice Birthday present for me. One thing that Coldplay are still are, are a fantastic live band. They know to put on a great show. Martin is a great frontman, the set list was very heavy on material from the last three albums which wasn't surprising and the support acts they had were awful, but I can't fault the show and I got my moneys worth. But it couldn't beat the gig I saw on their Viva La Vida tour, still probably the best the gig I've been too.

Seen them 5-6 times, although not since 2011 Letterman. Chris Martin can really fire up a crowd. I just miss my old band from 2000-2003.

Last year I thought they were terrible at some points and great at others during their gig but perhaps that's because they're were trying at times to be some sort of shit dance act and playing crap like Hymn For the Weekend.

Coldplay became too pop since MX, writing trowhaway pop songs only to say at the charts, the only way out of this is if they do a rock record, imagine Coldplay releasing a song like U2's The Fly as a comeback single, or Even Better Than The Real Thing, an album a bit more heavy on the guitars, it would have been awesome.

The difference is U2 weren't a pop band in 1987-1990. They were rocking and then turned Americana. So becoming a Berlin rock act was a bold step but a necessary creative one. Coldplay have released three cheese ball pop albums in a row. They will never reinvent themselves like U2. That shipped has sailed. A long time ago.

I wonder if they have another 'Fix You' up their sleeves? Are they even capable of writing that way anymore? I certainly hope so. Even just one more song of that caliber...

I've just listened to the EP in full. Just some quick thoughts...
'All I Can Think About Is You' is quite good to be honest. Lyrics are a bit lazy but musically it's very interesting, I really like the instrumentation (great bassline!) and how it keeps growing till the end.
'Miracles (Someone Special)' has an interesting, very funky guitar line and vintage synths which are great. Very poppy and radio-friendly... that's pretty much it though. And fuckin' hell, why do they keep adding these tacky rap verses? They feel very out of place here, and Big Sean is rapping totally out of rhythm.
'A L I E N S'. I like it, as I've said last week. Not extremely memorable as a song but I love the mood of it and the strings at the end. Nice one.
'Something Just Like This (Tokyo Remix)'... I don't know what 'remix' means here to me honest: it's just a live version of that uber-generic Chainsmokers crap. Useless! Jonny's guitar line in the outro is the best thing about it.
'Hypnotised (EP Mix)': I like the dreamy, chimey intro. The song is not bad but it sounds very middle-of-the-road to me. It's a massive step forward from a lot of the shit on AHFOD but it's still far from being as good as most of stuff on Viva la Vida (which is still my favorite Coldplay album and era).

Bit of a shame they've put their most interesting stuff for a while on a side show EP. If only CM would get his head out of his arse and get back to writing interesting albums I do have to say though the Chainsmokers song is awful.

Still, the trailer looks alright. I hope it does well for Mat Whitecross.

I couldn't care less about the film, but that album title was bloody awful, and if you're going to name the film after an album there are better options, right? A Rush of Blood to the Head wouldn't have sounded too bad, and if anything it's the best Coldplay album with the word "head" in it.

The old footage from the late 90s is incredible when they were just babies. I'm looking forward to the 1998-2005 Coldplay in this film. Funny to hear Johnny say you can't try and please everyone. I believe that is exactly what Coldplay was trying to do post 2002. They went full blown early 2000s U2, cared what everyone thought and wanted to be liked by everyone. Doesn't work that way fellas. Its a losing game and you'll never be happy or satisfied.
