I hope that the criticisms touch Chris and convince him that nobody cares about his joke of a band anymore. It's time they realized that the only people who actually noticed their performance were the die-hard fans. Everyone else doesn't give a shit about them anymore. They're just another band now, consigned to the likes of Imagine Dragons and Maroon 5. Nobody can tell nor cares about the difference between them and other pop bands. What a fucking joke. That happened a long time ago mate. Rush of.. was probably the last noteworthy thing they did. I've heard the singles from headfull and I don't like what I hear. As Liam said about Kanye he's a million miles away from Parachutes. They must have a lot of hard core fans to be selling out stadiums, and if they are all hardcore fans if i were in coldplay i would not give a fuck about the rest.

Anyway lads and lasses, don't let that clown Martin bring you down anymore. My gift to you... Oasis...now there's a band that never went downhill Seiously though, life as a Coldplay-hater must be pretty easy. When I think about new Coldplay it makes me so emotional and melancholic that I have to listen to old Coldplay. I see Warning Sign as mine and Chris Martin's Talent's break up song.

Coldplay not cool enough for the basic buzzfeed generation. Not respected enough for actual music lovers. that tells you all you need to know. matt I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I actually don't really mind Beyonce, I just think the majority of the public loves her a little too much for what she is, which is what you posted about. Her music isn't really aimed at me (I'm a white 23rd male), but I can still appreciate her songs. Hell Crazy In Love and Independent Women are damn fine pop songs. Just the public loves her like religiously like a cult. Its really really odd, how the US in general is moving towards this separate cultish thing. Dem's/rep's, white/black, apple/andriod. It's like you have love something or you're immediately placed in this other group. Beyonce is empowering for a lot of black women, or women in general, its not really my place to say she can't be, but her fans are also the same people who protest against corporations sweatshops, traditional beauty standards, among other things that Beyonce kinda of reinforces in our society. Its a catch 22. I'm not a (black) minority so I'm not really gonna relate a 100% with her new song "Formation" but I appreciate the sentiment, I just think its a shit trap song with a couple descriptive lyrics thrown in that might make my 80 old year grandma gasp. To Pimp A Butterfly is also a uniquely black album, but in addition to the themes, Kendrick actually talked about issues in real depth - lyrically and musically. Beyonce's statements in her new track just look elementary by comparison "“I like my negro nose with Jackson 5 nostrils” and “I like my baby’s hair with baby hair and an Afro”. Yes, I know these lyrics are her talking about how the media views her, jay, and blue ivy, but they just aren't that BOLD like desperate critics are trying to make it to be *cough* pitchfork. Like the Queen has always been a self-confident black woman. Its nothing really new, just presented over the flavor trap beat of the the month. Yeah the video its a rally against crazy ignorant people as well as a statement of proud culture claiming, but it still embraces the corporate system that ruins this country and musically it just isn't my favorite song by her. It does swag though... Whether or not any of us like it or not, the fact is she is a source of inspiration to millions of people. That's cool, I just don't think her talent (she is talented by the way), is congruent to how much the public loves her. She is really worshiped here and its kinda of annoying. I'm not kidding folks, I think people actually might get more mad at you if you diss Beyonce, than if you diss Jesus, Buddha or someone like that. Its boarderline crazy, but then again I'm trying to take the approach as a white man to realize that not everything is meant to be for me. Just don't like the fact that if I say anything mildly negative people will jump on that shit. shes an amazing performer nevertheless.

Anyway lads and lasses, don't let that clown Martin bring you down anymore. My gift to you... A poor gift considering the pile of shit that liam gave us with beady eye, should we not be complaining that he isn't the frontman he was in 1994? Eh? I only posted the video above because for a long time, the only footage we've had of Oasis's Glasto '94 gig is of a few songs, and I thought, being the kind soul I am, that people might like to hear the full thing, now that it's been uploaded to YouTube. And maybe, some of those people who would like to hear it might be Coldplay fans. I was not making effort to compare Coldplay and Oasis or Chris Martin and Liam, or whatever it is you're insinuating. So retract yourself and work on your "this is what I always wanted" face, because you're coming across ungrateful...

I am ungrateful, this is a Coldplay thread and you have posted something that has already been posted on this forum, which is an Oasis forum.

But after that, the band has tanked like crazy, into the oblivion of blandness and obscurity.

I'm going to see them in June, but I'll just comfort myself with the fact that the majority of their setlist won't be songs off AHFOD.

The band (more specifically Chris) is getting ripped a new one, oh man... I'd defend Coldplay if this were any other album cycle, but this era is just filled with too many things that adds fuel to the fire of the band being bland and sell outs.

Best Coldplay concert? I think so. I remember watching this from start to finish four years ago, just simply brilliant. Why they didn't release this we will never know.

Still Sydney 2003 for me, that performance of Politik will forever be their peak as a band. Possibly the most orgasmic climax in music, IMO, so fucking heavenly. They owned Clocks as well.

Best Coldplay concert? I think so. The performances of God Put a Smile Upon Your Face and Politik from the gig are really great. It makes me wonder why Chris said that Coldplay never really was a rock band since that whole concert, and those two aforementioned songs, are pretty rocking.

I got a $25 iTunes card this past week, and bought A Head Full of Dreams, Birds, and Adventure of a Lifetime (didn't purchase Up&Up since I already bought it) on Saturday. I looked back there today, and iTunes put up an offer to buy the rest of the album for $1.81, but I just could not take it. There's about one other song worth getting from the rest of the bunch (Everglow), and that's about it. Otherwise, it's just a whole lot of meh-to-bad stuff, and filler, left to be had, which makes me think that this album was rushed too much to get it out while GS was still fresh in everyone's minds.
On the bright side, I have to say that Major Minus is a great tune. It's like a futuristic/Mylo-ified version of Spies, and I love the way the guitars sound on it. Easily one of Coldplay's most rocking and overlooked songs imo.

So Coldplay finally got to #1 in the UK with this album. Expect more shit albums like this going forward. I was hoping not achieving a #1 album by a pure pop album would shake them to their core. I was wrong.

On the bright side, I have to say that Major Minus is a great tune. It's like a futuristic/Mylo-ified version of Spies, and I love the way the guitars sound on it. Easily one of Coldplay's most rocking and overlooked songs imo. Looking back, Mylo Xyloto isn't the terrible album most Coldplay fans used to consider it. AHFOD really puts things into perspective. Hurts Like Heaven, Paradise, Charlie Brown, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, Major Minus, Don't Let it Break Your Heart, and Up With the Birds are all good tunes, and UFO/Us Against the World do their job as "we-still-remember-Parachutes-I-swear!" songs. Even Princess of China doesn't do too badly until a minute and half in, when it loses all structure. Combine the instrumentals with the succeeding tracks, change the tracklist a bit and it would be pretty good: 1. Hurts Like Heaven 2. Paradise 3. Charlie Brown 4. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall 5. Major Minus 6. U.F.O 7. Princess of China (Rewritten, NO RIHANNA) 8. Us Against the World 9. Moving to Mars 10. Don't Let it Break Your Heart 11. Up With the Birds Still, whatever you do to it, it will always be a major creative step back from Viva. Following that album, Coldplay once again ruled the world. They had all the studio equipment and the biggest budget conciveable. They had gained critical respect, enjoyed rejuvanated popularity, and had proved they could change their sound effectively. They could have worked with pretty much anyone they wanted, and the possibilities were endless. To make a formulaic glittery pop album - positively neon though it is - was a real cop out, and the less said about their choice of collaborator the better.
