Ha! Fabulous! Looks like she's a sort of mother figure to him there, and he's desperately looking for a seal of approval. Also looks like he really does believe she's some sort of the Queen, and he's eyeing her adoringly, like a peasant in an old painting ("Queen B., this awkward little jig and this singing out of tune I'm doing, is that OK?"). Either way, she looks embarrassed to be with him. And I for one can't blame her, the man's a plump sack.

I believe I started with the Coldplay/Maroon 5 comparison about 2 years ago.

I remember when I heard Clocks for the first time and it triggered my love for Coldplay. I remember when they dropped Violet Hill as a free download in 2008 and it blew me away. They were such a good band, and it was only 8 years ago. Unbelievable. I'm both sad and disgusted. This is an insult to the real fans and to all the great songs they've made since 1999. Chris Martin sharing the stage with Queen B. and Bruno Mars (what a clown!) is a fucking nightmare. Fuck this shit. Coldplay are DEAD!

Those pictures and gifs are just embarrassing.
The saddest part about all this is that Chris was a far more gifted songwriter than both of them at one point, and now looks to them for approval. Nobody is talking about how good Coldplay was at the show besides their brainwashed fans on Coldplaying. This was their time to shine in America and they fumbled worse than the Panthers.

Just for the record I don't like Coldplay.
I don't mind Parachutes but nothing after.
Got the Mylo Xyloto album they did a couple of years ago, utter garbage.

I hope that the criticisms touch Chris and convince him that nobody cares about his joke of a band anymore. It's time they realized that the only people who actually noticed their performance were the die-hard fans. Everyone else doesn't give a shit about them anymore. They're just another band now, consigned to the likes of Imagine Dragons and Maroon 5. Nobody can tell nor cares about the difference between them and other pop bands. What a fucking joke.

So we can all pretty much agree that the old kings of pop-rock are dead, but the question is - where did it all go wrong? I say the decision to put Rihanna on Princess of China was the crucial one. Without that, Mylo Xyloto still had some merit as a colourful, triumphant pop record but the inclusion of Rihanna takes it into full sell-out territory. You could also say X&Y was the crucial point where they went from a nervy, indie rock band to a stadium, sing-a-long band and that their creative days where numbered from then on.

It has to be Princess of China for me. Putting Rihanna on it was completely unnecessary, it was just a "smart" move by somebody from their marketing team. I could think of about a hundred talented female vocalists who could have featured in that song, but obviously non of them are a publicity stunt as effective as RiRi. The inclusion of Rihanna made Coldplay much better known all around the world and skyrocketed them into the huge teenage/girlie/" Oh, Look at those My Little Ponies, they're so colorful and dumb" kind of fanbase, who obviously couldn't give a shit about Parachutes and the darker indie rock roots of Coldplay.

I'd say Lost+ was the beginning of the end. The fact that the band was willing to lower themselves to collaborate with a rapper signaled that worse could happen. But it wasn't so apparent at the time, considering that it was hidden away on an outtakes EP, and it wasn't too out of the ordinary for rock bands to feature hip-hop artists like Jay-Z on some of their songs.

Embarrassing.
At 12:06 mark which I've linked the video to start at, explains just how much BS Chris is telling himself. I really think the guy is having a mid-life crisis! And Will.....wtf?

I actually feel sorry for Chris Martin, it's like he's looking for approval from these shite pop stars when he's got more songwriting talent than all of them put together. I don't think he realises it though. Without a doubt they were fucked over last night by playing 2nd best to Beyonce and Bruno Mars who looked as if they couldn't have given a fuck whether Coldplay were there or not. It all looked embarrassing for Coldplay.

The man behind Clocks, Politik, A Rush of Blood to the Head, Violet Hill, Death and All His Friends and Chinese Sleep Chant becoming so artistically degraded that his new, shitty chart-pop is getting rejected by fucking Beyoncé. Shame on you for wasting your once brilliant talent, Chris Martin.

You've failed as an artist when the hugely-talented songwriter known as Beyoncè comes to you and says that your songs are shite. B-E-Y-O-N-C-E. I can't tell if it's immensely sad or simply hilarious.

Completely degrading that a songwriter of Chris' talents even needs validation from anyone save himself and the rest of the band - let alone fucking Beyoncé. Thirteen years ago, the likes of Beyoncé or Bruno Mars would be asking to Chris to spare them one of his B-sides - and would get promptly ignored because the guy used to have a bit of fucking pride in his ability.
