I think I'll reserve any judgment until I've heard more than a 10 second clip.

I actually quite like it. The spiralling guitar riff is nice, and the seemingly Indian vocals work. Also the pounding drums at the end certainly give hope... Could be a great song, could be shite - but the potential is there it seems. Although this is Coldplay and potential has never been the problem.
We'll see.

Sounds like a Maroon 5 song. How come? There's a guitar in it... These 10 second clips can be very misleading. But I like it... Indian influence in mainstream music would be really cool (not embarrassingly uncool like the fucking shite 'sitar' George Harrison rip off from Oasis...). The guitar sounds like Mike Oldfield too - that would be amazing. Sadly, this time next week I'll probably be comparing it to Chris De Burgh.

Listen to that extremely high falsetto. Sounds like Adam Levine to me. I got moves like Jagger!

Can't really judge much from that, sounds like a song Strawberry Swing from VLV a bit.

Are we judging a new song based off a 10 second preview again?

I don't know how how using an oft copied ancient Egypt design is 'jacking' a Bring Me the Horizon album cover. That exact design my grandfather had a few books on:

I always thought Coldplay should release a "To Be Where There's Life" kind of track.

I always thought Coldplay should release a "To Be Where There's Life" kind of track. Their track 'Yes' from Viva la Vida, one of my favourite songs of theirs, always reminded me of To Be Where There's Life.

Feel. The. Hype.
Just to remind everyone why they should still be excited for this:
This band is capable of great music, I really hope they realise it again.

Stuart Maconie and Mark Radcliffe on BBC 6Music just said the same thing that it sounds much like Mike Oldfield. World music influence, guitar sound, etc.
Basically said what we've all said in that it sounds interesting based on 10 seconds! But they also talked about Jonny Buckland - saying he's an underrated guitarist and a lot of his work with Coldplay is excellent.
He is a top guitarist, and one thing that Coldplay don't get enough credit for is that they are brilliant instrumentalists. A band like Coldplay wouldn't be in the top elite of live performers if they didn't have top musicians in their band.

To Be Where There's Life is genuinely one of my favourite Oasis song - but I love grooves. Which makes it all the more exciting that Coldplays new single has been described as a "groovy bastard" by Q Magazine!
