Champagne Supernova is Oasis' greatest song imho. Nothing will ever touch the studio version. Such a baeutiful vocal and the perfect dynamics and length. But Noel's version is LEAGUES better than the way it was played at Oasis concerts for years. Liam couldn't sing it decently after 1996, it was one of the first songs that he lost the range for, and the band never got the speed right.

I love the Dylanized CS to bits. It's perhaps the most successful rearrangement of an old Oasis song Noel has done, and the definite highlight of the current tour.
Some of the replies on this thread remind me of the time people were comparing BOTMI to Katy Perry...

I watched Noel playing at T in the Park on telly the other night and thought the acoustic version was good. What a wonderful atmosphere it created with the crowd singing along, wished I was there. Some humble comments from Noel saying something along the lines that it's just an ordinary song but the crowd make it great. A nice touch I thought. I've always wanted to hear an acoustic version of champagne supernova, it's just nice to hear a song played in a different way.
A bit off topic but just throwing it out there regarding acoustic versions of champagne supernova... Back in Summer 1996 when the band were in rehursals for the MTV Unplugged show, Liam either didn't turn up or was late or walked out. I wonder what the set list would have been if Liam was committed to rehursals and the show. Could the band have tried a few different songs like champagne supernova etc we may then have had a decent Liam sung acoustic version.
Please don't get me wrong, Noel's performance was fantastic that night at MTV Unplugged but I see it as such a missed opportunity for Liam to sing the songs while they are played acoustically. I'm not 100% on this but I don't think we heard Liam do an acoustic set until 2005 when he sang a couple of songs on 4th June 2005 in Hilversum, Netherlands.

It really is... At the Clevelãnd show, Noël dedicated it to me - acquiesce19 knows what I'm talking about, he was standing right in front me. Just kidding, acquiesce19! Have you gone to the Macy's at Eastland yet? Make sure you're packing... God bless.

The only individual performances I can think of are: Liam sang stand by me (by the pool) with Noel and Alan white which was broadcast on the BBC documentary Right here right now in 1997. Liam and Andy bell played little James for OBP radio station in Portland, OR, USA on 4th April 2000. I can't recall any Liam sung acoustic performances in the HC era in 2002 to 2003.

I suppose the setlist would have been the exact same, since he decided not to appear literally minutes before they had to walk on stage. They might have rehearsed it though. I've always wondered why they didn't do a version of Rockin' Chair (probably because it would have been a copy of the studio version, ha). Liam also sang on almost all acoustic radio performances for Definitely Maybe in 1994. There's of course also the officially released Paris In-Store gig found on the DM reissue.

Yeah like I said above I mean Liam sung acoustic versions between 1996 and 2005. There is very little, a real shame. Regarding the MTV Unplugged gig, yes Liam decided not to sing minutes before the gig, but I believe he did not sing very much in rehursals for the show, if he turned up at all. The story was covered on the MTV behind the music documentary in 2000.
