It's just highlights how much tougher the competition has got over the last six years. Or once you turn 27 it's all down hill as a male tennis player. Tell that to Stan Wawrinka!

This match is a great one But sadly I see fed as a half step slower these last 5 years , why he is losing to joker ( who I love ) The fed of 10 years ago DONT miss backhands down the line , OT mis hit forehands , yet he is still in it ...... Im hoping the roof closes It's his best chance , unless he can find his form of a decade ago , he simply can't make unforced errors like he has been , that is what age does sadly I'm neither a fan of Djokstrap or Federer but you can only marvel at how well they're both playing. Federer has slowed over the years but it's amazing how he's changed his game to become so efficient in the way he plays. I really hope this goes to five. I've seen this before. When McEnroe lost a step Lendl dominated , same for when seles lost a step after she got stabbed , the game is do close , that age or injury is what determines the match when different eras collide .....the fed of 2008 era never makes these errors .... Why tennis is so tough

The fact that the match between 28 year old prime of his life world number 1 Djokovic and nearly 34 year old ten years past his prime Federer is this close is more proof that Roger is the GOAT for me.

Congratulation Djokovic, great match.
First time I've seen Roger look like a 34 year old.

It started as a classic but ended with a whimper. After the Murray match, I thought Federer would win. Would have been nice see Federer win no. 8. Congratulations to Djokstrap though... He really stepped it up when he needed to.

DONT forget in 81 Lendl took him to 5 sets at the French and he did not win his first major til 85 ....wilander was a carbon copy of borg but he played the net better........I do think borg may have won more , but in general after 27 it does get hard .......had borg not retired , I think he may have won a french , maybe even a U.S. en thst CONNORS stole from Lendl in 82 and 83 ,,,,,, but he is a rarity , mcenroe basically retired him , if Borg couldnt be number 1 he wanted no part of it

John McEnroe would whip all their asses...
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy the tournament's over...the coverage was fucking up the shows I like to watch on ESPN.
I do I like tennis, though....my friend used to play competitively and I beat their ass - of course my friend is a girl, so...
God bless.

Shame that Roger didn't make it happen this year. And he really isn't showing his age very much yet, his game is still effortless and flowing. He's played some of the best tennis I've seen him play this year.
If he played today as well as he played against Andy then I think he would have won. Nevertheless, he still played some blinding shots today.
Fair play to Djokovic, he managed to maintain the standard for just that bit longer.

For what it is worth ....... I have been watching every major since 1974 , I am also a avid player , I serve about 100 ( not top level but I played in college ) my favorite player is mcenroe , but o have seen them all from ken rosewall on ( just missed laver )
If we are talking best ever its a tough question. Fed win the most so he has had the best career , that however does not make him best ever , I take into account ...equipment for the era , competition , and surface ,
Most people here have no clue that the Australian Open was not played in the 70 s by the best players so in effect mcenroe borg Connors rarely went there , they really only plsyed 3 majors a year
So you can't take majors into, account THe aussie open used to be played before xmas and nobody attended. ( look at who won back then )
When I look back at all the players i rank them by who I think would have won at there ABSOLUTE BEST . in that case my top 10 meNs players pist Rod laver ( who I don't think was better than my top 5 anyway I seen the footage )
Is John McEnroe Roger federer Pete Sampras Bjorn borg Ivan Lendl Rafa The joker James Scott Connors Andre Agassi Mats wilander
Those are the 10 best i ever saw , nobody touched McEnroe of 84 he only lost 3 matches the who,e year and nobody played Australia back then , At his best he was best I saw , followed by the the list below

Any predictions on tonight's match-up? I'm hoping Federer will be the last man standing but have a feeling Djokstrap will be lift his second U.S. Trophy.

Yeah today, it's your day for the 18th, Roger ! Not a single set lost during the whole tournament, a service as good as Cincinnati, a return on point. Roger is amazing since the end of RG. With that form just an amazing Djokovic can stop him and I'm not even sure of that. Come on Rog' !!
