I really hope he makes those kinds of comments (like the one about the animal) in order to annoy the audience and/or his friends Marr and Morrissey, and that he doesn't really think that way. Surely he's more intelligent than that.

I think he is trying to annoy the audience/journalists,he's anything but a vegetarian tho...now that I think about if I remember correctly his wife and daughter are...so maybe it's them that he wants to annoy  |

I think Morrissey is the last person who is annoyed by comments like this, instead he hates these people. It's not a topic he likes being made fun of. It's way too serious for him (I'm with him on this, I can't laugh about that either). Do you think Noel would say such thing to Morrissey's face? I doubt it... To be honest, the first thing I thought after reading the quote was that I hope nobody I know reads it, because I'd feel ashamed to be regarded as a fan of Noel..and quite a big fan actually as you know. And I also don't want anybody to think he's an idiot. But I hope you're right and Noel just wants to annoy people in the audience, idk... |

Morrissey takes everything too seriously, of course, but he must know about Noel's eating habits by now. Perhaps that's one of the reasons why they are not so close.
If it's true that his wife and daughter are vegetarian, I find it baffling that so many people that are close to him or that he admires are or have been vegetarian (or even vegan), yet he chooses to make these comments. It's just stupid.

The thing with Noel is, sometimes he's not even serious and says things just to be funny/annoying/to provoke people, but when he speaks everything's either black or with, so in certain situations (like this one) he can go a bit too far
Said that, I don't think he has any problems with vegetarians and really gives a fuck about them, but if he said what he said in a nicer way the substance wouldn't have changed...I mean, he still eats fucking meat (I know your point is he should've avoided to comment about it, but still...)

He's right about the first bit to be fair. Everything about Latitude screams middle class Guardian reader, albeit not in a bad way as the lineup and the festival itself normally look really good. Yer boys Sleaford Mods would have a field day with Noel ripping "champagne socialists" though.

Basically, one guy that drinks beer on stage and another guy that shouts profanities at a microphone over a repetitive beat. They might appeal to you if you're obsessed with classifying music according to the social class it supposedly stems from and/or if you frequently complain about Radiohead being, like, fookin' weird shite mate. |
