It was weird as I watched it with a couple of mates who aren't as big Oasis fans as me (they don't hate the band, just aren't as into it). They were both shocked by how fucked up Liam's voice has gotten. I said he had been singing that way for years, which is true, but it's gotten to the point now where all the non-fans are noticing. Shame there's no way for him to sort it out, it is pretty knackered. Apparently he was blaming the sound on the night as well, but let's be honest, his vocals are just not what they were

Well that's the result of all those years of heavy smoking and drinking. There are people who say that's why he's a "proper rockstar". In my opinion, it's just pathetic That's why I don't consider Liam to be a 'real' musician: It seems he doesn't care about the music he makes. But it's not just the recent years his voice has been in decline; Liam should have noticed it already back in 1994, and should have put a halt to it. Compare the gleneagles 1994 gig with a gig a few months later (for example Chicago 1994). At the end of 1994 he had already lost most of his vocal range. His voice has gotten worse with every year: 1995 is worse than 1994, 1996 is worse than 1995, 1997 is worse than 1996.

Sure, at some point - 1995 - Liams sneering voice was pretty cool (like in wonderwall and morning glory), but that doesn't mean he didn't have vocal damage. By 1997 his voice was fading away and was slowly getting more nasal with every month. Additionally, the songs from the BHN-era were adjusted to Liams 1997 voice so they sound pretty good, because they are meant to sound like that. But when you compare for example Live Forever in 1997 with a 1994 version, you can clearly hear the difference

i feel that his voice is as it is because of a.)his voice has matured and b.) of his new, more awakward stance
Maybe he cant do Ciggs and Alc, or Slide Away (or whatever song), but lets embrace the new Liam....his 'new' voice will conform to the new songs (Love Like a Bomb is amazing on DBTT....)

I quite like Liam's BHN voice. I thought Wonderwall at G-Mex was pretty good...

I think he has changed his stance BECAUSE his voice was going shit and he took advice on correcting it - e.g. he has the mic lower now rather than having it high up and straining his neck/throat up toward it, and he doesn't put his hands behind his back, etc. Sadly I think the damage has been done though.

Noel's guitar solos have gotten better and better as the years progress, and Gem is fantastic! He's the hero that's still unsung imo. What a man.
Oasis are still worth the money to see live (and hopefully i will finally get to attend a gig durring their next tour), they still look as cool as fuck, and the energy is as strong as it was in the 90s and that's the most important thing.
Oasis can last another 10 years. Noel claims that he wont do this past 50 (but we all know how Noel can be), but there's no reason for them to stop. Noel wants to make a mega album, so the ambiton is still there.
But it will be a sad day when they finally finish. Hopefully that day is still a decade away. Rock on.

i think liam looked a little puffed and lazy and the sunglasses were not too cool - the band didnt look as cool as they could have and have---- They looked like some old men trying to be younger than the are and liams singing was below the bar - especially for a one off performing like this---rhcp sounded a lot better comparing to how they sound on record... anyway oasis seemed like they didnt belong to these awards-- oasis is raw downtoearth rocknrolllad band and them being there getting the outstanding achievement award -and like noel jokingly saying theyre up there with the kinds of "Sting, Eurythmics and Sir Bob Geldof, so I'm not sure that congratulations are in order." i felt like the whole place was a place not worthy and too little for oasis to play- theyre performance would have fitted in some stadium the vibe and the place didnt fit oasis I felt like they rather had performed at a stadium accepting the outstanding contribution... it seemed like they even werent there though maybe they should have not been at all going as low as performing at the brits- they should have been like getting the award---"yeah whatever, thanks.. wheres the booze?"
