Discman? How old is it? I don't think that they still make them? I don't think that they stil make them either. Mine is nearly 10 years old and it's still working. mimmihopps could you tell me the brand & model of your discman? I'm looking for one, you can find new ones on Amazon but the ones made nowadays are crap quality according to customer reviews, they break down very quickly. I'd rather buy a used one of better quality; if yours still works after 10 years that's obviously a good one! Thanks!

Mine was Akai and yes, I did have it for 12 years, but sadly it came to an end, so I had to buy a new one. I bought a new disc man (Philips mp3/CD player, made in China, around 40 Euro's) via bol.com (Dutch website) a couple of months ago, but I'm not very happy with it. First it worked fine, but now sometimes it says "empty disc" when I put my CD to play it. Also the part where buttery should be in, is inside and under where CD should be in, so it's very unhandy to change buttery. This is what I bought: www.bol.com/nl/p/philips-exp2546-discman-zwart/9000000011418306I have a mini stereo compo as well, so I'm listening to my CD's with it more than with my disc man lately. We had a turntable which my other half has had since his teenage years, but it became nothing, but antique. New turntable is still on my wish list. If you're planning to buy a new disc man, don't choose a cheaper one and no Philips, but something like this one. Grundig is a good brand. www.bol.com/nl/p/grundig-cdp-6600-triton/9200000070328400Good luck and let me know whenever you purchased a new one.

Philips don't make reliable products anymore, whether it's discmans or boomboxes, I got fooled a few times because I trusted the name of the bran but sadly they're not what they used to be. I seek out old Philips products from the past decades on websites selling second-hand items, I get it at half-price or even cheaper & they're definitely more solid. I recently bought an old Sony D-121 discman from 1993 (!), still works perfectly fine, I guess if it's stuck it out for 24 years it's solid stuff. Fingers crossed.
