In the war of the Roses I'm backing the lads from Manchester.
The Stone Roses is one of my all time favourite albums. Guns 'n' Roses don't even come close for me.

Guns 'n' Roses never appealed to me, my vote has to be for The Stone Roses - a true classic.

You know you're on an Oasis forum when Heathen Chemistry is matching Appetite For Destruction for votes.

Guns n roses aren't my cup of tea. Love the stone roses however, one of the best debut albums ever IMO.

In this forum this is a joke , as the stone roses will easily prevail , it's like asking a stadium full of ENGLISH SUPPORTERS who will you support ENGLAND OR GERMANY , I mean come on even the American continengent here are for the most part stone roses fans ..so it's not a fair poll
Put it this way ...THE WAY OASIS changed the way music sounded and people dressed during there boom ..that's how APPETITTE changed the music scene in usa and in some ways dress ( girls loved. Wearing "the axle look." A lot of guys tried to look like slash
People forget or don't know before APPETITTE , the hair bands of hard rock dominated the scene , then APPETITTE broke and those makeup boys faded fast ( nirvana get credit for this , but really this LP ended the "poisons "of the world )
For my money APPETITTE is the better lp , it may not be the popular choice here , but in the Usa , GUNS will be the last rose standing if a poll was taken .
Both are fantastic by the way

Both are fantastic by the way Spitting some truth. Appetite for Destruction is a landmark American Rock n' Roll/metal album. Combined metal guitars, rock theatrics, with pop melodies and it didn't come across as fake or try hard. They wiped the floor with hair metal bands like Poison and Twisted Sister, and for that I'll always respect them. They embraced being rock stars but they had a grit and badassness about them that non of the hair metal bands had. That said, The Stone Roses debut is one of my favorite albums ever. Not really a track on it that I don't enjoy. A masterwork. I'd pick it over Appetite but Appetite deserves respect.

I was like 5 or 6 when Destruction came out. Way too young to know its impac first hand. I do know that when Nirvana came around in 1991/1992 they made Guns N Roses look like self indulgent posers. I dug that at the time. A new era of rock was about to begin in America. Cue Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.

That album as a whole blows goats. I hate to say it but even Dave Sardy couldn't make an album that pathetic (...or could he? ).

Hate the album from The roses and gnr. "Heathen Chemistry" on the other hand, has its moments... "Force of Nature," "She is Love," "Little By Little," "Stop Crying Your Heart Out," etcetera. - Noel Gallagher 2015 You don't like the Stone Roses? Are you made of stone?

Appetite for Destruction every single day of the week,
No matter the mood, whack AFD on and party like it's 87, it's a phenomenal album,
Stone Roses don't really do anything for me,

The Stone Roses album.
Not a huge Guns 'n Roses fan apart from a few songs (the obvious ones like Sweet Child O' Mine, Paradise City, November Rain etc.) and why the fuck is Heathen Chemistry in this poll?

I'm way too young to talk about the cultural impact of either album, but for me The Stone Roses is pretty much the best album of all time, with I Am The Resurrection as a contender for best song of all time. Now, a Definitely Maybe vs. The Stone Roses poll...that would be tough.

this probably should be in unpoular musical opinions ....but this thread made me revisit both ....APPETITTE still rocks as hard and sounds as fresh as 87 sorry but not all that keen now on the roses debut , SOUNDS very dated... to my ear anyway ..... GNR may have been self indugent as my good friend Lennon2217 said ( posers tho ? NO they backed it up , posers dont back it up ) but from appettite thru use your illussion 1 and 2 with the GNR EP thrown in between , they ROCKED as hard and were as BIG a band AMERICA saw since my ZEP AND VH AND i seem to remember ZEP AND VH being called self indulgent , so they were in GREAT company in that department

Only the Van Halen brothers. And they moved to the USA pretty quickly I believe Eddie has a house here somewhere though. He still gets spotted here every now and then. Or was that Alex? Or both? Not sure really.

Does that mean the Van McCann is Dutch as well? Van is his first name. Van is the Dutch word for "from" or "of".
