San Andreas. GTA 4 was pretty good but had alot of flaws but had the 2nd best story in the franchise.

San Andreas was the one I played the most by far, even if you weren't doing missions it was was so much fun just cruising around in the jet pack. Could play that game for hours on end without doing a mission and not get bored. I knew every cheat off by heart haha.
Not sure if I'd say it's the best or if it's just nostalgia talking though but I'll vote for it anyway.

I was under the impression GTA V was the best game ever from early reviews...guess the initial buzz wore off.
Glad I didn't get a PS4 just for that game.
God bless.

I didn't play any of them after San Andreas, so I guess that I've been out of the GTA business for roughly ten years I'll always have a soft spot for GTA II. I used to love it when I was a kid... I played to both the PC and PlayStation version. Fucking great memories!

GTA V is pretty damn good though to be fair, I've played gta since it was first released way back when, and I've enjoyed every one of them really, but if you play the older ones now they are pretty crap in comparison to the latest one so that gets my vote.
No doubt the next one will be even better still though.

Red Dead Redemption is better than all of them put together, though

Always loved Vice city and San Andreas, gotta go with GTA5 though. Get with a tight crew and play online, it's a blast.

Red Dead Redemption is better than all of them put together, though Red Dead Redemption - what an amazing game, great characters, great setting, great storyline, great atmosphere. GTA San Andreas is the best for me. GTA V is so impressive, but I think San Andreas really broke the mould in gaming and it felt revolutionary at the time. Even now, there's a lot of fun to be had on it. Every GTA from that one onwards has felt more of an evolution rather than revolution. Though I didn't like GTA IV, thought it was dull to be honest and such a disappointment.

It's one of the greatest games in the last 15 years. My mate said it was shit because you have to ride a horse everywhere ? I've played it a couple of times and I'm pretty sure this is the case. I think it's meant to be set in the Old West or somewhere like that. Still, I suppose it beats riding a sheep everywhere.

It's one of the greatest games in the last 15 years. My mate said it was shit because you have to ride a horse everywhere ? So he said the immersive quality of the game makes it suck? Yeesh, he sounds like a casual Horses, besides transportation, are a big role in the game. You can capture and tame your own in the wild, and they are really cool to use when on chases, having a race, and there are different types of them that have better speed/stamina benefits. If he doesn't like traveling over the incredibly detailed region Rockstar created, then there's always fast travel.

I'm a big GTA fan, can't pick one. GTA III brings back the most memories for me, it was my first GTA. Storyline is not very good though, and the game is relatively short compared to the others. Vice City has an amazing atmosphere, by the end you really feel like you own the city. San Andreas feels a bit unfinished, but the sheer amount of content is amazing. Lots of fun to be had. GTA IV had the best story, but the gameplay got quite boring and there wasn't enough things to waste money on. GTA V is brilliant as well, I think people will only realize that when the next one is out. I loved VCS and LCS too. Most people don't even know about them. It's a shame they aren't on PC.
I'm currently in the process of 100%ing them all.

It's the only game I've played where the horses are done properly. I can smell the PC port coming soon.

Vice City for me,
Cruising along 'Miami' in a 80's sports car listening to synth pop, gaming perfection

On a side note; I just started the 'Monster' mission in San Andreas and Fools Gold happened to start on the radio. It fit the mission perfectly.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, my favourite video game of all time. Love this game so much I'm still playing it 11 years after release. GTA V in second place, my favourite game of this decade so far.

I really like them all though, with the exception of 1 & 2 which I haven't played much. Played a lot of GTA London on my PS1 though.
