At the end of the day, I think the situation is the same as it always has been. Liam would jump back into Oasis tomorrow if he had the chance, Noel doesn't see the appeal with all the hassle involved that matt mentioned above. I actually think Noel is being honest for once. If someone wants to pay him a ludicrous amount of money for some one-off Oasis gigs, he'll do it. Maybe something has already been agreed upon behind-the-scenes for next year, who knows. But actually reforming the band, making new albums, getting into the same "grind" of being in a huge commercial band again...it's just not happening. Especially now that he's producing himself, Noel is really embracing his newfound freedom to go into the studio, make 100% of all the decisions, and just do whatever he wants. Inviting Liam and Gem and unnamed bass player #3 (because it likely won't be Andy) into the studio with him probably does not appeal to him at all creatively. I don't know. Noel's been wanting to do a solo album for awhile (And no, I do not believe the utter nonsensical conspiracy that he's held back Oasis songs for his eventual solo project. That's crazy talk). But the reality is that both his debut and Chasing Yesterday are no different to his output in Oasis. Even the Right Stuff isn't even "out there" as it's a fine comparison to Gas Panic. There's no bloody point in doing a solo project with Oasis tunes, when you have the chance to make it a global success with the Oasis name and supporting characters. The only logical reason would be if Noel and Liam aren't able to mend their differences. But apart from that, it's shear stupidity not to reform the band. Why play arenas when you can play stadiums? Why be only relevant in the UK, when you could be Familiar to Millions world wide? Why rake in millions when you could be banking multi-millions? Noel has proven to himself that he can do a solo project and be successful. His fantasy has been fulfilled. And with the rift with brother Liam healed/healing, it's time to reunite the band. In fact, that could now be seen as a new challenge for Noel: Reunite the band and make them big again. Mediocrity vs. Grandiosity. Oasis always stood for the latter even if they produced the former. But what will Noel choose now....? Well stated. You do have a very good point, there.

Yeah it would be sheer stupidity to not reform a band and give up half of your songs on an album in order to have a songwriting democracy (which makes for worse than mediocre albums), be miserable most of the time, look miserable on stage too, be in a band with an unreliable guy who can barely sing live anymore and be forgotten afterwards.

I cannot see how Noel could just change his mind all of a sudden. He's probably just not answering the question anymore.

If oasis did reunite and actually did both an album and tour, which do you guys think would come first? I think for the album they would have to reinvent themselves or heavily modernize to become relevant and massive again.

For fuck sake guys. There is NO chance of a new Oasis album in the future. I'd be willing to bet my house that Noel considers Oasis in the past, and sees no point in making a new album where there's no chance of standing up to the older stuff.
The only thing that's even somewhat realistic is a couple reunion gigs eventually.

I wouldn't say "No chance" for a new Oasis album, but the most realistic chance is definitely a reunion tour.Noel knows that the only way to play stadiums and arenas all over the world is to get the band back together. I mean, I can't believe that he is happy to play small joints which are sometimes not even sold out.

I would have thought an album would be on the cards when they reform in many years to come

To be honest I think fuck it, lifes too damn short, who gives a shit if "it should be left in the past" likes its been said above, oasis is a big name and therefore it brings the stadiums, the chart positions and just the general big feeling.
Noels said he might stop touring in the next decade so my advice is to go back to oasis, play a one off gig or a few and then Noel can step back again and think "do I want to do another album?" he might go back to oasis and realise what a great thing it was and still is and therfore he can set the ball rolling for another album,he can always go back to HFB after its done, if not well a one off gig isnt going to send oasis into the abyss of obscurity, it will remain just fine, Noel can go back to HFB and thats that.
IMO if noel has the slightest ounce to want to do it, do it now or soon while your still young, the whole concept of oasis wont work if they in their 60s, and I dont believe Noel would do it anyway if it got that far down the line

What people don't seem to grasp is that a new Oasis album means a lot of LAG contributions. We have seen the comments Noel has recently made "they aren't very good songwriters" and other comments along that line. Creatively it's a huge step back.
I don't want LAG. If I want to listen to them I can put on DGSS or BE. There's a reason why Beady Eye weren't that succesful.

People often say that but for me it has no bearing in fact. Since Oasis became 'democratic' they released HC on which Noel's are the worst songs, DBTT which I think is really good and then DOYS where the others contribution is largely poor. I still don't believe that Oasis was 'democratic' really. If you found the albums mediocre then you have to ask The Chief why he allowed them to be so. If he had these songs to give why didn't he? I personally don't think Andy or Gem would have kicked up any fuss had Noel put more of his own on the records. I think Noel has said that only the last tour was miserable. Like Noel there seems to be a tendency to re-write history here.

I, note how I use the word I, as in me. I found the last albums pretty mediocre. I loved DOYS, but I think both HC and DBTT are pretty mediocre. The singles are great, then there are a few alright songs and the rest is very meh or shite. This is not an opinion based on what Noel or whomever says. This is the opinion of me, a fan.

I second this opinion. If we're talking about LAG songs, I for one would like to see some songwriting contributions from Tony McCarroll. For all we know, he could be sitting on a mountain of songs.

I think if Noel agreed to come back and do another album he would assert that he would only write the songs in order to get the album the best it can be. I like LAG songs on the oasis albums but I do think they usually ended up being the weakest contributions especially from andy and Gem, Liam had quite a few good tunes but Gem and andy only had about 3 between them. I just dont think Noel would allow them to write songs on a new album (if they both came back) it would be him and no-one else, I really wish Noel wrote an entire album at least once more, cant believe the last time he did was BHN, maybe that was a big part of the issue, a loss of a central direction within the albums.

Because they have been writing their own songs for years now, and I don't think they will just take a reunion and a new album without being allowed to contribute anything. It's a band, Noel is not some sort of dictator who gets to decide everything, even if it appears that way sometimes.

I might be wrong but I think all these people claiming that Noel needs to reform Oasis in order 'to be on top of the charts and the world' fail to see that latter Oasis albums and singles weren't all that succesful really... Of course he would get back to playing stadiums... But I think saying that they would come back to being the 'best and biggest band in the world' is an exaggeration (they weren't even that liked, popular or recognized on their last tour tbh).

Andy probably wouldnt be there cause of ride, Gem would probably come back but again I doubt he would care either way. also after Noel made comments about how he had songs better than Liam was singing in beady eye, I really cant see him allowing it to be beady eye (featuring Noel gallagher) like the later oasis years again.
