actually didnt know what order to put them so i rated the songs out of 10 and this is what i ended up with
1. Whats the Story Morning Glory (93.5%)
2. Definitely Maybe (92.2%)
3. Dig Out Your Soul (90.4%)
4. Chasing Yesterday (90%)
5. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds (89.5%)
=. Don't Believe the Truth (89.5%)
=. Be Here Now (89.5%)
8. Standing On the Shoulder of Giants (84%)
9. Heathen Chemistry (83.1%)
thats why it was so hard... thee first 2 are in a league of their own then those middle 5 are so even then the last 2 are quite a bit behind!

Two albums, I'd take What's the Story & Definitely Maybe.
Three, add Standing On The Shoulder Of Islands.
And four, Chasing Yesterday!
From thereon in, any album, Oasis or Beady Eye, I can take or leave, with mostly good bits and some I don't like.

Chasing Yesterday hasn't had as much time to prove itself as all the other albums, but it still establishes itself at no. 4 showing just how good an album it is. Real shame that I had to put DBTT and HC so low down as I really don't think they are bad albums! As you can tell, I don't like the Beady Eye albums. There's about 4 tracks off theirs that I actually listen to. Still, I don't think they were bad, just not as good as we all wanted them to be. They just didn't have the songs.

I always find this kind of topic tricky, because being in my mid-thirties, all albums have some sentimental memories for periods of my life that I attach them too. Morning Glory Definitely Maybe Be Here Now Standing of The Shoulder of Giants Chasing Yesterday High Flying Birds Dig Out Your Soul Heathen Chemistry Don't Believe The Truth Each to their own but for me if any list starts with anything other than DM or put WTSMG first I struggle to digest it. It's the equivalent of favouring The Return Of the Jedi over The Empire Strikes Back. |

Noel debut is SO overrated in this forum... We were expecting for it during almost a decade and the result was and is very disappointing. "He's been saving the anthem songs for his solo debut" we used to say...

DM & WTSMG top the charts
BHN completes the holy triology
CY nestles nicely into fourth
DBTT, DOYS, and SOTSOG fall in the same category
HC finishes last
Not really surprising when you think about it, but that's really the common consensus. And one in which I wholeheartedly agree with.

Yep, we all like to piss off SOTSOG for Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is and I Can See A Liar (and Little James) but Dig Out Your Soul sucks so much more with Ain't Got Nothin' and The Nature Of Reality (and I'm Outta Time). That album don't even have great tracks as good as Go Let It Out or Gas Panic ! Bag It Up, The Turning and Falling Down are good songs but they're goin' nowhere. I mean, you can piss off Who Feels Love but you have to piss off almost everything on DOYS first. |

SOTSOG is loads better than DOYS.
SOTSOG is a bit mixed in quality, but when it's good, it's top end Noel (FITB, GLIO, GP).
There's nothing like that good on DOYS.
