Most likely this was just a quick visit as Neil has recently played Dublin and Belfast. Still, it would be IMMENSE (some would say biblical) if Neil Young countributed anything to the new album. I'd even take a background vocal on a single note.

In one of his interviews, when, as usual, he was asked the current state of his relationship with Liam, he said, "I don't know, I have not checked his Twitter recently". Nice little dig, as well as this one!  |

Personally I'm quite tired of it all... I'm not really interested in hearing him singing " Monsanto, Monsanto!" and/or stuff about pesticides on a NG track  |

If that's her kind of influence I'm not surprised at all. It doesn't surprise me with Meg Mathews to be honest as she was basically a failed DJ promoter before getting together with Noel, her agency Flavor crashed around 1995 and Alan McGee gave her a job at Creation Records. Kudos to her considering the flak she got there for being a band member's girlfriend (that wasn't unusual at Creation, even for minor bands in fairness) she was the one who came up with the WTSMG? launch party which instead of the usual nightclub setting was held at a London mansion with cocktails, the band logo as an ice sculpture and a string quartet playing the album in it's entirety, which did add an air of class to the launch as well as confusing journalists! The problem is since the split with Noel to stay in the public eye in any way it has been about attention grabbing such as being snapped by paparazzi and posting her own photos- her own website appears to be offline and she is 'represented' by Artisan Talent (Meg Mathews Profile) , who describe themselves as a "talent management company for some of the UK's most creative personalities", whose other clients include a Good Morning Britain correspondent and a 'Made In Chelsea' cast member. I wish the woman well but to be honest this is the all too familiar story of the ex-wife/husband of the star trying to stay relevant and make a living off their past associations, whilst a lot of the time convincing themselves they were as much of a star as their ex partner (The late and rather tragic David Gest for example). |

Haha no at the time I was ensconced in a back office of the Soho Square offices poring over accounts ledgers, but it was known about and IIRC Paul Mathur wrote about it in his book 'Take Me There: Oasis Story' Neil Young has actually always been very complimentary about Oasis, with this Noel Gallagher excerpt taken from September 2011 Mojo Magazine- I do remember back in 2001 Noel Gallagher commenting that he had finished producing the Proud Mary LP 'Same Old Blues' and gave a copy to Neil Young, who apparently was convinced he had the new Oasis record until he met the band when they supported him! Oasis also played on 24th June 2001 as support to Neil Young and Crazy Horse at the 16,000 capacity Bercy in Paris- Noel and the boys can be seen around the 5.45 mark of the video applauding Neil & Co. The gig was announced in April, which was a weird month for Noel with dotmusic reporting at the time he was having to talk Liam out of a 'John & Yoko' moment for Songbird, which was slated to be the lead single for 'Heathen Chemistry' (NME were reporting the title as going to be 'Longtime Servant of the Gun', for what reasons I have no idea although supposedly something to do with a song title according to early internet alt. geeks NME Long Time Servant of the Gun?!) Neil Young is IMO a phenomenal artist from Buffalo Springfield, CSN&Y and his solo work, with his seventies output up there with the best. Mark Coyle is an ardent fan with Paolo Hewitt writing in 'Forever The People' that he wound Liam up by claiming him to be "Better than The Beatles by a country mile" because "He never wrote a pop song" amongst other reasons |
