Edit: Thanks to @wadfalkirk for uploading Here it is! Unlisted YouTube video. I hope that's in keeping with the rules. Has anyone heard it yet? I have high hopes for this one after the album version, which to me sounds too fast and the drum and bass rhythms get annoying after a while and steal the focus from the fantastic melody. It's weird how Noel was so creative on the other tracks but the rhythm section on this is just so unimaginative and plodding. I'm hoping the demo is delivered as delicately as the sound check. Thoughts?

I almost prefer the soundcheck video on Youtube to the finished article, I must say.
If it had the the rawness of a Fade In Out or Wonderwall it could've been even more epic.
The demo might deliver this.

I have listened to it once. It's essentially a more polished version of the soundcheck version. Acoustic guitar and a vocal with a bit of echo on it. A few tiny guitar details that I couldn't quite make out that were panned to the extremes of both the channels. A nice stripped back version.

Actually I think the album version is pretty much perfect.
It's not overdone and plodding like IIHAG and it's definitely got a dark, quite menacing atmosphere.

I can remember the first time I heard the tune (below video) Literally blew my head off. If the album version was a slightly polished up version of this, then I could see the tune being a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR hit. Unfortunately its brilliance is smothered a tiny bit by the direction Noel took on the album recording for it. A much rawer version would've stood out soooooo much.

The fact is he's already done multiple songs like that in the past thus I think that the publics reaction to a more stripped down 'TDOTL' would be "Oh, he's gone and made ANOTHER Wonderwall, will that man ever evolve?" Instead he didnt play it safe and created a darker, much more interesting song. Obviously this is just my opinion.

But for me, it would've been a better song (although more safe, more likely for criticism, and less interesting). Either way, it seems the demo went this way, so it seems everyone is catered for. Which raises an interesting point, maybe... when Noel writes a song (for instance... The Dying of The Light) on his guitar... he obviously has an instinctive idea of how it would sound ideally on record. But because of the songs that he has already penned... does he feel the need to "tamper" with it so that the finished article can't be dismissed as ''another [insert Oasis tune]". I guess most prolific songwriters have this problem, obviously it allows them to evolve, but is it at odds with how they instinctively imagined the song?

It sounds awful in the soundcheck.

I also think (purely speculating now of course) that might've been one of the major issues Noel had with the AA album. He probably wrote those songs with a certain idea of how they would end up, but the AA versions were too far away from that initial idea in his mind. Maybe thats why he decided to re-record some of them for CY, most likely in the way he initially had imagined them to be.

Unfortunately my record player is in a different city from all my audio interfaces, so I can't record it at the moment. As soon as I have all the equipment together, it'll be recorded and uploaded somewhere. That is if someone hasn't beaten me to it!

Apparently it's a secret group. Only the ones who get invited are able to get in, so a link have no effect.
