There is so much overlap with genres you could easily put the same band into several genres. For example Deftones, QOTSA, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana and Oasis all appear in the 'Alternative Rock List': en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_alternative_rock_artistsSome bands fit better into certain musical definitions, and I'm certain Nirvana and QOTSA fit much better with the definition of 'Alternative Rock'. You guys realize hat these lists are made by people linke you and me? So why believe in an wiki article what genre a band is?

I Hope I Think I Know is closer to metal than My Big Mouth.
Oasis had a lot of the same influences as a lot of 80s metal bands (Led Zep, Slade, Pistols, Stooges) but I think that influenced Oasis differently that it did say Poison or Motley Crue.

I said that they INFLUENCED a lot of eighties METAL bands (like Motley Crue or Poison) while they also influenced Oasis.

I saw a comment on the demo version of The Hindu Times saying Noel was ripping off Limp Bizkit. So there's that.

Bring It On Down could have been, and I'm sure some metal band has done a cover at some time in history.

“The Nature of Reality” isn’t that far away from Load/Reload era Metallica, but that’s also considered Metallica’s least-metal era so... 🤷🏽♂️
