I'm looking forward to this more than any other song on the album. Think the demo was okay. But it has the potential to be a classic with the right treatment.
With some gentle Terry Kirkbride-esque drumming, mellow piano and light acoustic guitar (maybe throw in a string quartet), it could be very haunting.
I'm hoping it won't be killed in the studio like If I Had A Gun or Broken Arrow were.
Anybody else really looking forward to this one? Couple of weeks til we have it.

I imagine we'll all love it at first but the production will kill it's replability over time and we'll go back listening to the original soundcheck version.

People will be too "cautious" to leak it. LOL. And the most ridiculous statement of the day goes to you. People on private torrent trackers will have a RACE to see who gets it on quicker. All it takes is a request with some bounty attached and with Noel being popular with a lot of people as it is, it probably wont even need that. It will be on the net within 24 hours of release. Get over the fear you think exists when it comes to leaking music. Its not a Hollywood film. Hell, the guy who leaked DOYS (the Oasiscollectors guy) put his damn name and website in a text file in the leak. |

There's not even a -demo- version around, it was just a secretly recorded soundcheck. He had finished the song off, while he was recording the debut, it almost made it onto the album. Parts of it were apparently written (according to an interview for a japanese magazine, thanks appleseed!) during the Oasis days. So he's not going to reinvent it from the 2012 version, is he? He has commented that it will be "far more grandiose" however. A string section is a safe bet. It's not Noel's fault that someone's recording and uploading his soundchecks. EDIT: Being confronted with the leak at that time he even said "it ruins it for the fans, really". So there you go. It will be the same song in a broader, full band arrangement. And I would be perfectly fine with this. |

Haven't heard the album version obviously but the soundcheck version is pretty "meh" in my opinion. That might be harsh, it's seems alright I guess, but not great by any measure of the imagination. Of all the Noel soundchecked songs. I think I prefer Don't Stop the Happenin and If There's a God over this. The former's melody is really dynamic and the latter's has a tinge of Dylan, where as this one seems a bit mopey, akin to SCYHC/LBL.
Hope the album version fleshes out the song more but doesn't fall into the production traps of IIHAG. Fingers crossed.

The chord progression and the lyrics (bus fare line and all) give it more of a classic Oasis feel than anything Noel's done recently (IMO). I already like the soundcheck as-is more than anything off the first album, so I just hope the production doesn't kill the mood  |

this is the song i'm least excited about. i don't have a great experience of listening to final versions of songs that had leaked before - even IIHAG or EOTR, that I really like, I can't put my finger on them for some reason.
and also, it seems to me that this is one of the noel by the numbers ballads that we have on every album - good, but kinda predictable, if that makes sense. they don't excite me as much.

I've genuinely thought of that same melody in the verses myself whilst noodling on my guitar in the past, sounded really familiar and obvious to me the first time I heard it.
