His best chance would be to record the new Bond theme. I don't know what odds you can get on him doing it.

What, Common Linnets? They're pretty decent, I like them. Or maybe I just feel proud that someone from my hometown came as far as Ilse did. But in all fairness, there are enough Dutch artists that achieved a lot this year. Mister and Mississippi, Soul Sister Dance Revolution, Mozes and The Firstborn are pretty decent. Pauw supported Temples, so it's geting better with Dutch music scene past years. Until 8 years ago we only had Moke. I loved their debut album and they even supported Weller in Paradiso in 2008. I sent my friends in UK their debut album back in time and they loved it. But I lost interest in them after their second album. Groetjes aan Ilse btw. Yeah there are some decent groups, but they don't get the attention they deserve. Apparently some are doing quite well in other countries though. There's a documentary about it on tv this Saturday I think. Moke was pretty cool. Saw them live once on a festival. Most people hated them here. I remember they were often described as an "Oasis rip off" while they don't sound like them at all in my eyes. They do have that British sound though. Sorry, really digressing here. Carry on people.

I agree with the "Bond thing". Anyway imo he was better off releasing a polished soundcheck version of "if i had a gun".

It's only cos you heard the version he did in a sound check first!! If you'd heard the normal one first it be different- well get the same with DOTL, everyone going I prefer the acoustic version- he's overdone it... Think about it- Champagne Supernova is overblown, The Masterplan has got fucking strings all over it, God help us if there had been recordings prior to these songs being heard back in the day- wonderwall DLBIA and LF would be slagged off- some people aren't satisfied. The songs are just rough demos until the full version- I never hear anyone slagging off the first 2 oasis albums recordings?

Point is people say it should have done this, it doesn't sound as good as this version, I didn't hear any complaints of songs before the Internet as much- is that cos it was much better? No it's just what your expecting to hear!! - just like the Arctic Monkeys I'll keep banging on about it!! When the 1st album came out- so many people slagged it off compared to the demos... "Mardy Bum sounds like he's smoked 20 fags etc- it got ripped I remember the forums going mad!! You heard the demos recently? OMG they sound terrible- everyone has an impression/expectation of what they think it SHOULD sound like and then makes a stupid opinion on it. We're all entitled to them but this is why I only message occasionally idiots slagging of brilliance- and I've been reading oasis forums for 16 years!! Didn't get this 16 years ago in the masterplan forum..

As a solo artist he should (please don't do it) do a ft. with Pharrell Williams, Coldplay etc. to have a hit. Or, writing the Bond theme. That would be cool, and Freaky Teeth was the perfect song
Or becoming the judge of X Factor

I could see fans caring about Oasis having hits since it was a huge brand/establishment, but I don't really care nor do I expect Noel to have an global hits at this stage in his career. The music industry has shifted/fallen apart. Noel isn't really a hugely marketable artist on the global scale because A) his music doesn't fit into the context of top 40 B) His age C) a bunch of other reasons I'm too lazy to name.
I'm perfectly fine with Noel just making music, playing decent sized venues, and getting solid critical success. He's pushing 50 who wants to see him around Ed Sheeran and Maroon 5 on MTV or something like that? Noel's above that.
Sure It'd be cool to see Noel collab with a modern artist like Coldplay or hell even have Pharrell produce something, but he doesn't need to do that. He is relevant within his own niche (which is actually a decent size).

Some songs are better left acoustic and simple. Obviously Champagne Supernova works better with a big production. I just hope "dying of the light" is not over done like "if i had a gun". Imo the intro to that song on the album is atrocious. Would have loved to hear him come in with a simple acoustic intro kinda like the way "wonderwall" starts.

The death of you and me is imo his best song in a long time. If i had a gun was also great, cant see him topping those 2 tbh

If he collaborated with a younger, more mainstream artist, sure, he could get a No.1 hit. Paul McCartney's solo stuff hasn't been relevant for years until he teamed up with Kanye Fucking West, and McCartney was in the Beatles, not Oasis...but I don't think anybody wants that. Rock songs don't become top ten hits, that's fine; his albums will almost always go to no.1 and sell well, he will sell out big venues and enjoy critical acclaim. At this stage of any (well, most) rock artist's career, that's all that counts.

Noel should collaborate with Dave Grohl. Maybe Rob Zombie or Trent Reznor?

Pretty sure he doesn't care about having a "worldwide hit" at this point and there's no reason he should.

Pretty much agree with what most have said on here--sure, having a worldwide hit would be nice, but I doubt Noel puts that much importance on it at this stage of his career. And the music market (as you have all said very articulately) is different these days.
Besides, a lot of artists with these hit songs are here today, gone tomorrow. They don't necessarily stay around very long or have any lasting influence or appeal. Noel has had that with Oasis, and now he's forging another great path with HFB. That to me is a much more important legacy/goal than having a worldwide hit.

I disagree. I think that is exactly what Noel wants. He wants a hit and he wants more $$. You dont make $$ off average releases.

I think he might be more concerned about putting out decent music. If it does well, well, that's always nice.
But what do I know. Nothing.
But obviously making an album isn't free and you're not throwing away a few grand for nothing of course, no matter how rich you are.

If he wants a worldwide SMASH HIT, he needs a What Aa Life, Ballad Of the Mighty I kind of song and have Avicii to drop a beat or two, perhaps he can play piano as well. It helped a lot to Coldplay and Sky full of stars.

I disagree. I think that is exactly what Noel wants. He wants a hit and he wants more $$. You dont make $$ off average releases. Hows a £1 single gonna make him rich? His tour is more or less sold out, that's what matters, not a no. 1 hit. The sole purpose of his singles are to put him the media so he can say he's got an album coming and thus a tour.

Accept it. Noel will never have another worldwide hit. That's not a criticism of him, but the market. He could write the greatest song in history tomorrow. Unless Noel wants to give the song he's written to Jennifer Lopez or Jay-Z or One Direction, the general public couldn't care less. Hit songs these days have nothing to with quality, but with marketability of the image of the artist doing the singing. The worst single off the next Paris Hilton album (yes, she's doing another one) will sell more copies than the best single off Noel's next album. The war is over and the mediocre have won. Stop worrying about the chart placing of Noel's next single or album. Just enjoy the music.

If there is a chance to be worldwide hit, then it will be shit. As Noel said "if you're in number 1, then you're shit". Tell me one rock song from the past 5 years, that it was worldwide hit? Do I Wanna Know
