Do The Damage for me. Ballad Of The Mighty I is actually my least favourite of the three.

Do The Damage for the win. awesome song. Close second is Heat of the moment although really radio friendly but that's ok Mighty I is one big turd. Or one big spud.

Do the Damage, then ITHOTM. Mighty Thighs is okay, but kind of boring.

"Mighty I" for me. I really like the sound of it, it's got great lyrics, and Johnny Marr's unique and instantly recognizable guitar touches. It's brave and very fresh sounding, definitely not what you expect from Noel.
Do the Damage is great, actually fuckin' great for a B-side. It's got a "safer" sound, closer to the typical Noel stuff, but still manages to sound new. It's no Good Rebel, is it? My 2nd favourite.
ITHOTM is third, but it's still a solid track imho. It's got an addictive chorus, an awesome bassline and some very interesting sounds buried in the mix (Morricone-style bells, for example). It can get a tad annoying after too many listens, though.

Heat of the Moment and Do The Damage are quick snacks compared to the full meal Ballad is.

I've only been a fan since Lyla came out, but I'd say TBOTMI is easily the most exciting new song to come from noel or liam in that time.
All three of these new songs are great. I'm definitely expecting the best collection of Noel written songs since the 90s with Chasing Yesterday. I think it's going to be a very special record.

ITHOTM. I love Do The Damage, think its a great b-side throwaway in the vein of Headshrinker or Step Out. TBOMI is ambitious and different and admirable but ultimately is not as loveable as good old fashioned Noel Gallagher songwriting. And ITHOTM is great Noel songwriting to a T, anthemic, insanely addictive and seamless. I think it is being severely underrated. If Oasis released it, say in 1997, it would have been a huge hit. I also thought about Headshrinker when I think of Do the Damage. It is my last favorite of the three though, itl be a throwaway down the road when all is said and done with NGHFB. My favorite is by far TBOTMI. If TBOTMI is the best song on the album, then the album will be meh. If its near the bottom, then wow! I remember thinking the same for Flick of the Finger. Problem is, it turned out to be a top 3 song on BE.

If Do The Damage was the A-side no one would be saying it's throwaway.

Went with TBOTMI but gave serious consideration to Do The Damage. In actuality, I like all 3 and am very excited for the album as well as Noel's visit stateside. I've heard through the grapevine that he'll be at the same venues in Chicago and Detroit as he was on solo tour # 1.

Do The Damage still isn't really doing anything for me, both that and it's a- side are throwaway tracks, heard The Mexican is also throwaway so I hope that's the only ones on the album. A 10 track album can't really have 3 throwaway tunes to be fair.

It's not that I don't like Do The Damage, it's just I've never really liked faster-paced edgier stomper type songs from anything Gallagher. Whether Headshrinker, The Meaning of Soul, Bring the Light, Face the Crowd etc... Not for me, or at least not when it comes from a Gallagher.

Kalas is a long time member of the forum, he's no troll - I do think you're being too harsh on Noel, though. I'm not a huge fan of Mighty I, but I think it's a good song, same for all the other he's released. HFB1 was great!
Anyway, BOTMI is my least favorite of the three. I like that it's different, modern, but it is a little boring and repetitive. My favorite, for my surprise (I listened to both singles today) is Heat of the Moment.
1) Heat of the Moment 2) Do The Damage 3) Mighty I

One of your personal favourite bands is Van Halen - personally can't stand them, because they are not my taste, but they are obviously not without merit with the success and adoration they have. So that means I'm not going to personally go and prove to everyone that Van Halen are shite because I know it's just a matter of taste, and that taste is liked by some and affects them personally in a positive manner. Something about Ballad of Mighty I affects me personally, I don't know why, I would have to go into the deeper recess of my mind to find out - maybe it's the rather downbeat and melancholic spirit of the tune which speaks to my natural disposition, so something that I find quite comforting and relatable.... well, I don't need people trying to take that away from me.
