oh shit What A Life came on after Might I... it totally made me forget the new single... and The Death Of You and Me is brilliant songwriting compared to the new one..
EDIT - listening back to Mighty I, it just sounds too polished, radio friendly. need more crisp, dirt around. but if this is to be ''today's sound'', I'll have that before anything else
*Mighty I really kicks off with the solo before the break

Absolutely love it, and I've generally been pretty apathetic towards NGHFB. It's just such a fucking cool sounding song. Could it be better with a massive chorus? Perhaps, but it doesn't really bother me that it doesn't have one (in the same way FOTF is still fucking amazing despite not having a chorus). The "Yes I'll find you" parts are so catchy, been in my head all day. It's an absolutely brilliant vocal from Noel as well. Really, really excited for the album now. BOTMI is fantastic, ITHOTM has grown on me considerably (still hate those fucking nanana's though), and DTD is a fucking awesome b-side. Nice one Chief

Its obvious that Noel 'gazing' at the shoes on the wire is a reference to Andy Bell and Ride, with their 'shoegazing' music. The fact that he ignores the shoes tells us that he has a strong disliking for Andy and has no intention to reunite Oasis.

The song has grown on me quite a bit. The "I'll find you"-part stands a bit more out now that I've listend to it more, the repetition certainly helps. I also enjoy the back-up vocals and Marr's playing on the song. It has lots of details, and every instrument used is given space and adds something to the song. It has very good instrumentation and the different instruments are mixed in a way that prevents them from drown in the rest of the instruments. No guitar wall, instead you got guitar arpeggios, bass guitar, strings, piano details and etc. It makes for a more interesting listening experience. The bass guitar (high up in the mix) and the drums sound very cool, and the first line is still my favorite and the one that sticks: "Followed you down to the end of the world / to wait outside your window".
I still think though that the chorus and some parts sounds more like bridges than a soaring chorus. At least I would've preferred there to be some kind of middle 8 to give some variation and break it up a little. It could've been a bit shorter some places too, but besides those few things it's good song to listen to. I enjoy listening it. It's probably better as an album track than as a single, but it's a nice piece of music. My new rating is 7/10. It's not the amazing song it could've been, but it's a pretty good song.
(I've just listened to it on youtube, might enjoy it more when I get it in better quality)

Right, you made me do this. It's about Liam. Oasis will reform within the next two years, after Noel gets a break from touring Chasing Yesterday. There will be no third NGHFB album because of this. In December 2017, find this thread, and call me Nostra-fucking-damus. Cheers....
Followed you down to the end of the world Wait outside your window Here in the rain I'll call your name But you just passed me by
^End of the World is either the end of Oasis, or the end of BDI, or both (depending on when song was written). It's "raining" on Liam's career. It's also "raining" on Noel - the end of Oasis really hurt Noel (This we DO know), and Noel wants to revive the band and stop the rain. Noel may have tried to save him and offered to reunite the band on his terms (and we may not know about this publicly), but Liam just ignored him - for reasons that aren't explicit in the song.
You put me up like a fly on the wall You need a plane when the halos fall Give me a sign if you hear me at all You just pass me by
^Noel's the fly on the wall, watching Liam in BDI, but BDI has fallen. He's asking Liam for a sign, but Liam continues to ignore him.
Colours around me are fading away And I'll be waiting come what may I'll find you Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you
^Noel is telling Liam he's ready to reunite Oasis. The "colors" and joy of NGHFB's are ebbing away - just look at the Press Release Interview back in the fall, Noel is tiring of being solo. He's asking Liam to give him a sign, and the reunion will finally be imminent
If I gotta be the man that walks the earth alone Followed the stars and sailed to the sun And held them in my fingers Alone on the beach On my own out of reach But you just passed me by
^Noel is just waxing lyrical - he's trying everything but Liam continues to ignore his advances, even though deep down Liam wants what Noel wants. The brotherly feud is evident with the constant refrain of "You just passed me [Noel] by."
I'll give you the world if you take my hand But you left me alone in the sinking sand Strike up the band for one last stand But you just passed me by Show me the rules of the games you play And I'll be waiting come what may and I'll find you
^Noel's ready to guide Liam and Oasis once again ["Give you the World if you take my (Noel's) hand"]. Noel reminding Liam that it was Liam who ended the band (left Noel in the "sinking sand") with his antics and plum throwing hobby. But Noel is engaging again, but wants to know the rules that the ever-youthful Liam wants to play by. But no matter what, Noel is ready, and will be waiting, as he finds Liam to push on with Oasis.
Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you If I gotta be the man that walks the earth alone I'll find you Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you
^Noel is clearly fucking devoted to finding Liam. This much is clear.
If I gotta be the man that walks the earth alone Followed you down to the end of the world Wait outside your window Here in the rain I'll call your name But you just passed me by Every word I'll be on your tail Whenever you're hiding behind your veil I'll find you
^Behind the "veil" - whether that's Pretty Green, BDI, or any other project, Noel will still find Liam, and save him from himself and reunite Oasis to all of this forums de-fucking-light.
Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you If I gotta be the man that walks the earth I'll find you Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you If I gotta be the man that walks the earth alone
^Noel's on a mission, the man is clearly not lazy.
And this song is the closer. Soldier On marked the end of Oasis. DGSS was about Liam continuing beyond Oasis. And The Ballad of the Mighty Eye (and "Chasing Yesterday", overall) marks the end of NGHFB's and the reunion of Oasis. I would say the clues are in the stars, but that's a fucking lie -- the clues are in the god damn song!! It being the closer just validates this theme further. And, moreover, it ties in with the title of the album: Chasing Yesterday, as in chasing back Oasis, chasing why the reasons Oasis ended, chasing how things could have been handled differently, and chasing Oasis and bring it back. Oasis is about to return. Ye ship is now steady. Good times ahead.
AND DON'T GET ME FUCKING STARTED ON THE VIDEO.

I have taken this into so much consideration but it will take Noel saying something to convince me it is true. How about you know we can't go back? How much should we read into that title?

Noel reminding Liam that it was Liam who ended the band (left Noel in the "sinking sand") with his antics and plum throwing hobby. But Noel is engaging again, but wants to know the rules that the ever-youthful Liam wants to play by. But no matter what, Noel is ready, and will be waiting, as he finds Liam to push on with Oasis.Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you If I gotta be the man that walks the earth alone I'll find you Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you ^Noel is clearly fucking devoted to finding Liam. This much is clear.
If I gotta be the man that walks the earth alone Followed you down to the end of the world Wait outside your window Here in the rain I'll call your name But you just passed me by Every word I'll be on your tail Whenever you're hiding behind your veil I'll find you ^Behind the "veil" - whether that's Pretty Green, BDI, or any other project, Noel will still find Liam, and save him from himself and reunite Oasis to all of this forums de-fucking-light.
Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you If I gotta be the man that walks the earth I'll find you Yes I'll find you Yes I'll find you If I gotta be the man that walks the earth alone ^Noel's on a mission, the man is clearly not lazy. And this song is the closure. It being the closure just validates this theme further. Go Away

Right, you made me do this. It's about Liam. Oasis will reform within the next two years, after Noel gets a break from touring Chasing Yesterday. There will be no third NGHFB album because of this. In December 2017, find this thread, and call me Nostra-fucking-damus. Cheers....Followed you down to the end of the world Wait outside your window Here in the rain I'll call your name But you just passed me by ^End of the World is either the end of Oasis, or the end of BDI, or both (depending on when song was written). You put me up like a fly on the wall You need a plane when the halos fall Give me a sign if you hear me at all You just pass me by ^Noel's the fly on the wall, watching Liam in BDI, but BDI has fallen. The "colors" and joy of NGHFB's are ebbing away - just look at the Press Release Interview back in the fall, Noel is tiring of being solo. "What did I think of Jay-Z doing “Wonderwall”? It was pretty funny. But I’m not sure one should be seen in public with a white Stratocaster." Noel Gallagher. Fast forward 7 years...

I see where he is coming from and give him a ton of credit for hos thought and breaking it down for everyone. Don't think we all need to be so harsh on him for being wrong about it though. The dude wants Oasis back together, this is what the song means to him. Thats why Noel does not like giving song meanings. He wants it to mean what it means to a individual.
