I noticed Dig Out Your Soul didn't have one of these threads.
1. Falling Down - One of my favorite post-2000 Oasis songs. 2. The Shock of the Lightning - Really like the energy in this one. 3. I'm Outta Time - I really like this one. 4. Bag It Up - Great rocker 5. The Turning 6. Waiting for the Rapture 7. Soldier On 8. (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady 9. To Be Where There's Life 10. Ain't Got Nothin 11. The Nature of Reality

Good to see this posted!
1. The Shock of the Lightning 2. The Turning 3. Bag it Up 4. Falling Down 5. I'm Outta Time 6. Waiting for the Rapture 7. To Be Where There's Life 8. (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady 9. Soldier On 10. Ain't Got Nothin' 11. The Nature of Reality
1-7 are really good, GOYHHL is good, SO is a little too long, while 10-11 are just awful. Boy With the Blues and Come on Outside (It's Alright) would've been better suited on the album than those two by a country mile and then some.

Its interesting that everyone's bottom 5 is exactly the same, clearly none of these songs should have made the album and instead they should have been b-sides, especially when you consider the fact that we only got one b-side across all three DOYS singles (TSHB)
Whats even worse is that these 5 songs essentially make up the second half of the album, and obviously it was to be their last LP.
It'd be like the Beatles making half of Abbey Road and then just tacking 5 Ringo tunes on the end.
Fucking shambolic, Noel Gallagher what were you thinking!!!

1. Falling Down: my favorite post-SOTSOG Oasis song 2. The Turning: what a great tune. Should have been a single, very underrated 3. The Shock of the Lightning: an excellent heavy and vaguely psychedelic rocker 4. I'm Outta Time: Liam's best effort to date... even if the Lennon quote at the end is a bit cheesy 5. Bag It Up: a nice way to open an album, an uplifting heavy track and some very good Liam vocals 6. Waiting For The Rapture: I'd rather have the alternate version with its dreamy surroundings, but still a good song 7. Soldier On: I quite like this one. Ok, it's not their best, but it fits as the album ending track 8. (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady: a bit of a useless track, but the hate this gets is unfair. It's not THAT bad, really... 9. To Be Where There's Life: the Richard Fearless mix should have been on the album instead of this, which is a tad boring...
And finally... I do hate these two. They're pure shite and not even B-side material IMHO. Lyrics are bad, the melody just isn't there and even Liam's vocals are dull and annoying. Actually I don't know if TNOR is better than AGN, they're both too awful to decide which one is worse...
10. The Nature of Reality 11. Ain't Got Nothing

I don't hate Waiting For The Rapture, but I prefer the alternate version. It sort of annoys me that the whole backingtrack of the albumversion is almost exactly the same as that the Doors song.

1. The Shock of the Lightning--By 2008, I thought Oasis didn't do songs like this anymore. All of their "rock" songs post 2000 tended to be lumbering blues stomps (Turn Up the Sun, Force of Nature, Lord DOn't Slow Me Down) or obvious 60s homages (Lyla, Hindu Times). SOTL is hard, fast and modern(ish), and close in spirit to the great rockers of the mid-90s like My Big Mouth, Bring It On Down, etc. A great single, underrated even.
2. Falling Down--I wasn't always sure about this one, as I'm always suspicious when I hear overt Beatles influences so easily in Oasis--perhaps I'm being oversensitive to the bogus claim that they are always ripping off the Beatles. But this is an absolute stunner of a song, and it overcomes the obviousness of the Tomorrow Never Knows drums.
3. The Turning- This is why DOYS was such a disppointment. This is what it could have been has they cobbled together a few more decent songs. Grooving, ominous, slightly less obvious, but still anthemic.
4. Bag It Up- Only Noel would steal the pre-chorus from "It's Raining Men" and give a prominent role in a psych-rock epic. His cheesiest rip-off source since he copped Wham's "Freedom" for "Fade Away". And that was even more awesome than Bag it Up.
5. Waiting for the Rapture- I thought Noel relied too much on these bluesy-type songs in the end, but this one works.
6. To Be Where There's Life- Here's the drop off from the good songs. Ultimately, I don't mind this song. It's too Beatle-y for my liking, but it's groove fits with the intent of the album.
7. I'm Outta Time- What an utter waste. Liam's loveliest melody and best lyrics, and instead of wrapping that Lennonesque melody in something different, they ruin it by making it sound exactly like John Lennon, and in case the especially thick kids in the back didn't get it, let's put a John Lennon voice sample on it too! It's funny, I never thought Oasis sounded like the Beatles at the beginning, when everyone was ripping them for it, but they sure started to sound like them at the end.
8. Soldier On- OK, we've reached the point where things get truly ugly. This song is essentially a nothing burger and it belongs nowhere near an Oasis recording session. But it's not offensive, which puts it above the three other atrocities here.
9. High Horse Lady- What were you thinking Noel? This twee piece of shit is good enough for an Oasis album? You're not fucking Paul McCartney circa 1968, you can't just put any old song doodle you came up with on the toilet and put it on an album and make it work. There's no reason this couldn't be one lower, I think it rates higher only because it is surrounded by decent songs, which makes it seem more tolerable.
10. Ain't Got Nothin- Liam has songwriting talent, I think he's proven that over the years. But he's limited. He has a nice ear for ballads, but man, does he have a lot of trouble with rockers. All of his best tunes (GGTIA, Songbird, Soul Love, Morning Son) are ballads. All of his rockers blow, bar a couple of half decent ones.
11. The Nature of Reality- My only explanation is that Andy Bell bet Noel that he could write the shittiest Oasis song of all time. And he won! This is a blight on humanity.

1. Bag it Up - Fantastic opener, it sets the mood of the album so well. 2. The Shock of the Lightning - Fast and heavy, a modern day My Big Mouth, very good drum solo. 3. I'm Outta Time - Great ballad by Liam, nice arrangements. 4. Falling Down - Epic, great production on this, sort of a Noel sung version of Gas Panic! 5. Soldier On - Nice closer, it doesn't try to be neither CS nor RIO, it has his own sound, a farewell song. 6. Waiting for the Rapture - Amazing, this is what FON should have sounded like. 7. (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady - It sounds great on the album while it's playing. 8. The Turning - Terrific tune, the ending is awesome. 9. To Be Where There's Life - A bit repetitive, but also has a infectious beat troughout. 10. The Nature of Reality - Shit lyrics, whitout it it could have been a good instrumental, nice guitar solo btw. 11. Ain't Got Nothin' - In one word: souless. It really needs the agressiveness of the demo version.

Anyone who doesn't have TNOR as last should denounce his fandom of Oasis. The driving guitar riff and decent solo saves it from being last. It's still bad, but well, it's still bad lol
