Thought Yesterday, noel has been on tv quiet a bit, including Jonathan Ross, but has not performed! Pretty odd to say he had a single out that he was promoting at the time. Even on Radio 4, he played tracks from his 1st album. I really want to see him do the new tracks live.

Probably because rehearsals with the band will start only next year.
He could still dig out his acoustic and play the fuckin' tune alone, though...

Even with no rehearsals, he should play some acoustic version like he did in 2011 with If I Had a Gun... and AKA... What a Life! at 1Live Germany.

Yeah, I don't get it either. It comes across as if he doesn't really believe in the songs he released when decides to play only tunes from his last album. The whole idea of being there was to promote his new single. I think it's pretty much required that you play the song that the whole appearance is about.
If he can play What A Life acoustically and make that work, then he should be able to do it with ITHOTM too.

No he was there to talk about his last album, not this one, that's why he played those 4 songs I don't think the problem is making ITHOTM work on acoustic, cause if you play it it actually sound good, as I've said several times before this was more of a taster that a proper first single, they just put it out to make people pre-order the album, Ballad Of The Mighty will definitely get more promotion, with both interviews and acoustic performances

Because there is no need at the moment. The album isn't out for months and he doesn't give a shit about the singles charts (and no one should blame him). When the album is nearer and he's got things to promote, he'll do it.

Very odd indeed. And the release date is fucking insanely bizarre too.

If he did no promo at all I'd understand. But to make the effort of chat shows and radio shows (that you can hardly reappear on in a few months!) you should play the single that's out! Weird.

People need to stop bitching about Noel following the rules to a fan event he went to. It's not a hard concept to grasp. The show is to highlight a specific album in an artists' career. Noel didn't make that rule. It was the rule before he went on and it will be the rule with every artist that goes on. How difficult is that to get? It wasn't a choice to only play HFB 1 songs on there. That was the point of it. Thats the purpose. Not flog your new shit. Its to go over past achievements. What is he supposed to do? Say, I know this negates the whole point of this, but let me play you a song that has nothing to do with this when I specifically made a commitment to only play songs from one album because you know that's the point of all this. It's really not that difficult to wrap one's mind around.

Next up: Paul McCartney promotes Band On The Run.
I understand completely why he played those songs. I just think it's a bit unorthodox to promote HFB now...3 years after the album release, while he had just released a new single for his new album.

Well, it's never a bad thing to try and squeeze even more sales out of your highly succesful debut album. Plus this album is only out in 3 months. That's still some time away.

You don't get someone just getting their name out there by doing a fan event for an album that reminds the same fans why they continue to be interested in his future music endeavors? It's not that difficult of a leap to make. Was Noel supposed to turn down the event? Was he supposed to tell the organizer fuck the fans. It's not for my new stuff so I won't do it? It's an event that helped get his name back out there. Simple as. Don't get what the big deal is whether he played songs from this new album or the last.

I guess the big deal is that we have seen those songs performed many times over. We're looking to see him do something new. As it happens, with new single out and b-side, was it so wrong to expect some of the new material to be played instead of all old material? Whether he plays the old songs or the new, it accomplishes the same thing, so why not give the people a fresh performance with some of the old?

No it doesn't accomplish the same thing because that wasn't the point of the show. How does him playing songs from his new album accomplish the point of the show which is to play songs specifically from a significant album in his career? Did I miss something? Was In the Heat of the Moment and Do the Damage on the HFB's album? Because then it would accomplish the same thing. If not, then it probably doesn't. It seriously isn't that hard to get. I get wanting him to play his new stuff but to bitch about it not happening on a show when it was clear by the point of the show it wasn't going to happen is idiotic. Bitch about it if he decides to play Wonder wall instead of Do the Damage on Letterman, but not on a show that clearly shows intent.

So you expect Noel to do a live performance of a song for an album five months away? I'm done. It was pretty clear that he used this first single to get his name back out there. He doesn't have to play live to do it. He'll do live shit in January. You have a whole tour to hear In the Heat of the Moment. Get over it. You just sound idiotic complaining about something that most people had accepted wouldn't happen till January. Because you know, waiting an extra month to hear a song live that everyone has in recorded form, that's unreasonable. Understanding that he hasn't been able to practice with his band, that's unreasonable. Understanding that it's a five month build up and who would play a single live at an event that you may have to go back to in five months four months before you're releasing an album, that's unreasonable. Get off it.

I don't know where you get the impression that his band are just sitting on their thumbs between tours with Noel and they can drop there lives and other career commitments to get to London to do a 3 minute acoustic tune with Noel. Or that Noel would want to pay them for a day to do each of these shows. When showing his face on TV or talking on radio serves the same promotional purpose but he doesn't have to pay 2-4 professional musicians for their time...and presumably travel expenses? Jonathan Ross would be better to play on when the album is coming out. He's more likely to be invited back to perform in 3 months than if he had done a interview and performance now when it's not as useful. You seem pretty naive and unrealistic. You're a teen aren't you?

You think ITHOTM can be done justice without drums and either keyboard or a second guitar... Any you think he should waste his chance to perform live on TV to do THAT version? Pull the other one Spaneli is right. Lost cause

Pull the other one Spaneli is right. Lost cause He's done it before stripped back with other songs. There are some okay covers on youtube with just a guitar and I wouldn't mind hearing a version like that from Noel himself. Can't really say if it would be good or bad until I actually hear it. Spaneli probably is right, but it's still no reason to be hostile. Just one guys opinion. I still think it's silly to release a song and not do a performance to promote that song. If it's unreasonable to do a performance 5 months before the album, which I'd actually agree with, then maybe the 5 month release date was a mistake to begin with. It's certainly nothing to get all hot and bothered about.
