AKA...WAL was also a split release between digital and physical. Remember? It was #20 with just digital and repeaked up to #20 (I think) 2 weeks later when the physical version was released. Tbf that was because they rush released the digital one because of the advert though it did lack foresight I know. I was just saying that theoretically adding The Rollers physical and digital sales together into one week and saying it could have matched WAL's placement doesn't really make any sense since both singles had split sales. Maybe you could make an arguement for TDOYAM. But I dont think the sales of #51 and #31 would bring you up to #15

The whole thing with the Roller at #31 was the first point of atrocious promoting. It charted at #31 solely on downloads. The next week it went in around the 50 mark on physical copies. So its safe to assume it would have charted around the sort of place that AKA What A Life did for Noel. Scattered releases are the sort of promotional tactics that One Direction or Nicky Minaj would do to build momentum on a single with promotions on TV etc Even in the days of Oasis at their absolute peak, they were a band thats singles were bought in the first week and never really stuck around. The first sign of the ludicrous promotion that stopped this band having any hope of success AKA...WAL was also a split release between digital and physical. Remember?
It was #20 with just digital and repeaked up to #20 (I think) 2 weeks later when the physical version was released.c mon, AK A...WAL released through a big commercial with a huge support and campaign behind (the commercial). This, gave the balls to the track and it was aslo the gold ticket that kept the track in to the charts for a few weeks, a reason that made more people to care about the album. otherwise, without the commercial, AKA...WAL could stay in the charts for 2-3 weeks and then to nowhere... like ITHOTM did if you know what i mean. in every case it was a huge mistake BE to release "The Roller" in that way. They lost the chance for a sure-hit, they lost that push in sales with a hit single...

Of course a commercial helped Noel. None of that has any bearing on my point. I agree it was stupid of them to do. I didn't say it wasn't. Just there isn't any point pretending that it could have been a patch on WAL commercially which is what the person I was replying to implied by saying that it could have charted similar to WAL if they had released both formats in 1 week. Even if it could have made it to #20, with a combination of a #31 and somewhere in the 50's placement, it would have only been in comparison to the split sales of WAL. Not split it think WAL would likely have been top 10. Really there is no point comparing Noel and BDI commercially at all. Don't know why anyone does it.

I don't know that either. Unfortunately people won't stop doing it. It's like some people can't handle the facts.
