its funny.... you have to understand the hype BEFORE BHN came out, it was going to be MASSIVE, they had just sold like 5 million records with MG...so this album was destined to fail, there was just TOO MUCH hype. Too many magazines like NME and Q claiming it was going to be the next Sergent Pepper...and then KILLING it when it came out. Oasis thought it was a great album too, all coked up, thought it was brillant. basically BHN NEVER ever had a chance..... I always had the feeling that people thought it was going be OK Computer, rather then remdments of Revoler. Its a good album, and it wasnt worth what it did to Oasis though, four year hang over? then pieced together Gaints... BHN was a bit of Oasis downfall, I think it might have been there one mis step.... but in saying all that, I friggin love it

listened to it for the first time in about 4 years from start to finish on the headphones... gotta say absence has Not made the heart grow fonder....
i think it sounds shit... way too much stuff goin on.... its a cluttered mess and the songs just keep going and going and...
the only bright spot is liam's vox.

yeah what jennyS said..
globe explained it really well in another thread...
"the youth of england were expecting an album of a revolver type magnitude and got "er...magic pie."
dont get me wrong it's got some rockers on it !
"kickin up a storm,,, from the day that I was born ! "

there are still some fantastic songs there which makes it anoying when its overlooked.
its big and loud which can be a plus or a negative depending on which way you look at it, i think its good as its a different attitude to other oasis albums.
a problem is its hit and miss, and i actually think more hit than miss but how crap my big mouth and magic pie are is incredible compared to don't go away and stand by me.
one fact that cant be argued with is that the songs are too long. if magic pie had been at 2:30 at track 9 people wouldnt trash it so much but its at an incredible 7 minutes + which really should be left for anthemic tunes like champange supernova.
you cant hear the bass enough, bad.
the lyrics arn't as good as previous albums, quite plainly. if noel wrote stand by me, don't go away, all around the world and d'ya know what i mean for the next album and a few of them wernt quite so long...then on top of that Gem contributed two mega tracks, Andy 2 and Liam 3 wed be looking at a mega mega album. problem is these songs are left stranded by over production and being stuck on an album with My Big Mouth on.
There will obviously be people replying to this post standing up for Magic Pie and My Big Mouth but lets be honest, they cant compete with B-Sides left off the masterplan like Round Our Way!

BHN has great attitude
the album is so arrogant and obnoxious
i do agree with you: my big mouth sucks, but magic pie is decent and wouldnt be as bad if it was 2mins 30sec
but remember, this album was made when oasis was in trouble i believe. Noel was talking about quitting the band, there were drug problems galore, liam was being a massive prick by "getting thrown off ferries" and "getting fuckin deported" -- i love that argument lol....
if you combine the best songs of BHN with the best songs of SOTSOG - you got yourself a mega album...or the best songs of BHN with the best songs of HC
this is how i see Oasis albums:
Best---------------------------OK---------------------------Crap DM,MG-----DBTT-------------BHN-------------HC-----SOTSOG
DM and MG were the best BHN is in the middle, and is ok SOTSOG is 100% crap, but it's close HC is weak, but not bad DBTT is def a return to form

I love Be Here Now. It's a great album. I love My Big Mouth. It's one of my favorite songs on the album. In my opinion Oasis has not released a bad album. I love the attitude of Be Here Now. It's one of the reasons I love Oasis.

Ok we all have our favorites and 'least' favorites, but calling SOTSOG crap is ridiculous.
FITB, GLIO,WDIAGW,GP,RIO (and the live version of WFL on FTM) is great.
HC has HT,LBL,SCYHO,SB that's not weak either.

youre right
but those 2 albums (HC and SOT) have the worst songs Oasis have ever written
Hung In A Bad Place Force of Nature, Better Man, Put Your Money, Little James, I Can See A Liar
and those 2 albums hardly measure up to DM,MG,BHN,DBTT

Yes they do have the worst songs that Oasis have done on them. I will give you that. Just imagine if the CHOICES of songs that were chosen at the same time each album was recorded respectively.
SOTSOG: Carry US All, One Way Road, Let's All Make Believe
HC: Shout It It Loud, Thank You for The Good Times,...Heart Of A Star
