I like most of them(except oh lord), but would prefer all new songs. Would really like a good album version of freaky teeth sometime.

word on the street is that Noel is still deciding what song the comeback single should be. Date and b sides are picked. It always seems like Noel struggles to pick singles. Same thing happened on Heathen Chemistry (Wanted Force of Nature), DBTT (Wanted Mucky Fingers) and HFB (Wanted IIHAG or WAL).

he always seems to pick the safe songs, except for Falling Down

he always seems to pick the safe songs, except for Falling Down I'd say TDOYAM wasn't the safest pick on HFB - that would have been IIHAG. I'd hope for something like TDOYAM as the next single as well - not the best song on the album, but up there, and somewhat interesting sound-wise.

Yeah, TDOYAM was really a surprise as a comeback single after Oasis. So different from everything else that went before. Certainly not something you'd expect from Noel.

TDOYAM was a great choice imho, it didn't sound like Oasis at all, but at the same time had the classic Noel's chorus that made it work as a single

''don't wait for me if I'm not here when you return if there's a God, you'll be crashing when you burn''
this should see the light of the record.

I'm waiting to come to this board and see the viewership number in the hundreds. That's how I'll know genius has been released.

In fact most of the album is disappointing. I hope the second record is better and had a bit more bite to it.

I loved Broken Arrow but didn't like the rest of that album, too Radio 2.

Yeah that's the one jack. I also like Broken Arrow most off the record, and why he didnt finish the album with Simple Game of Genius I have no idea. Stop the Clocks and Dream On are two of the worst tracks he ever put on record, Wrong Beach and Jesus Freaks seem like filler. Everybody's On The Run is great though too cluttered, If I Had A Gun similar, I don't care for The Death of You and Me. I've always been a fan of Record Machine but again it got kind of ruined. There's still plenty of quality there with Noel, I wish he worked with someone who really pushed him and can pick a decent tracklist.

If i was Noel and if i wanted to use any song that we know from the demos i'd use Solve Mystery (Revolution Song) and i'd put it out as a Christmas single.. I mean i'd love to hear this song as a Christmas single on the radio. That would be brilliant isn't, to take us a little bit back to the 90's vibe once again, silence a little this era vulgaris for a minute.
Not that i miss the 90's or something, no no, today is great, clearly better. We have emm... Well, we have more internet and emm... Kasabian ? Yeah, it's great !

I suppose if he had never written The Importance of Being Idle, The Death of You and Me would have come as a much bigger - and more pleasant - surprise. To the casual listener, Importance of Being Idle is a bit more Kinks like, so maybe some might prefer The Death of You and Me perhaps. That said, I'm happy we have both tunes as they are quality.

It's all about just staying in the charts like WAL. That tune didn't dominate by any stretch but it stuck around for a long time.

My only hope is that the new single is uptempo and uplifting. I still miss the days of going mental with your mates to Stay Young. If Noel can pull another one of those out the bag, I'll be be very happy

I can't. But I'm sure you get my point. Not really. I don't get some people's expectation, belief or even hope that he'll one day come out with some experimental mindfuck. Whatever he releases next, it'll likely fit very nicely on Radio 2.
